That's unrealistic. A supermarket cashier in Germany would never even look you in the face, let alone give you a nod.

At Aldi in Germany you get assigned a numbered landing zone, and you would better be in position before the groceries start incoming.

I had different experience from NRW region: the hotel check in receptionist cried into our face and when we asked what is the issue? the German girl said argument A-W lasting half an hour… and we couldn’t find coherency in her story. A feeling of madhouse.

We don't have cashiers here in Netherlands for years. All supermarkets are self scan kassa.

German here. There's a lot of truth in it. 😄 But the standard is saying at least hello and bye, please and thanks. We pack our own bags, baskets and trolleys. Nobody does it here for you. You're expected to be quick and efficient, just like the employees.

There is a supermarket close to where I work. There is a young cashier who is always in a good mood, smiling , laughing, and flirting with the customers. I fucking hated it. So I stopped going there.
