Summary 2025 🎨 This year has definitely been the most incredible, prolific in my artistic career! Won two official Art contest organized by PlayStation, had my art exhibited at the Fluctuart Galerie in Paris, I also had the honor and opportunity to be officially commissioned by some extremely talented people and studios that I admire, to create official illustrations for Control by Remedy Entertainment, Blades of Fire by 505 Games and MercurySteam, as well as by indie studios that I love with all my heart too, such as Digixart and Lowbirth Games to create special, festive goodies for their teams🖤many thanks to Juha, Antonela, Raphaelle and Chloe, Aicha, I appreciate you all a lot and I am so grateful for the trust. ✨️ The highlight for me was without a doubt being commissioned by the family of Guillaume Broche, creative director of the GOTY Clair Obscur Expedition 33, to create an unique piece for his birthday, a large 1-meter panoramic artwork 🖤 (A big thank you to his brother, Adrien, for his trust.) Then I had the opportunity to collaborate with all the voice actors of Expedition 33 and their agency. Even though the year started off in the best possible way with my work, I had a very difficult and painful year physically, with my health. I don't talk about it often, I'm not really recovered, and the daily pain is sometimes really, really hard to bear. To everyone, I hope you enjoyed this year of non-stop drawings, time lapses, paintings, cosplays, goodies, and I hope you'll still be here with me next year, because I have so many cool things planned for you all!🥰 Thank you for all the love, constant support, the kindness and all the encouragement I received every single day here and on every social media. I played Clair Obscur Expedition 33 for 60+ hours, defeated all the superbosses and here is my review: -2 graphic modes on PS5 -Many options (Motion Blur, Film Grain, Chromatic Aberration and more) -Played the game on the PS5 in performance mode -Solid 60fps with great picture quality -Very fast loading times -Minimal hud design -Played on the normal difficulty (was just right) -You can change the difficulty anytime (up and down) -The visuals and art direction in this game are insane, trust me -Every new location looks stunning and tells a story -The art direction is so unreal but also so authentic at the same time, stunnig work, the art director should get a raise for this -THE VOICE ACTING is also top tier, every character is brought to life with so much passion and love -The dialogue quality is also amazing and really reminded me of Naughty Dog games -How the characters behave and communicate with each other is simply lifelike -The characters also have complex personalities -Some very dark themes and overall a very mature story (death/loss, love, swearing, blood and gore) -The story is amazing and remains exciting until the very end -Some insane "holy shit" story moments -The game is more linear with some open zones and one massive overworld -I would compare it to Final Fantasy 10 in a very good way -There are also some beautiful fixed camera angles that took me right back to that time -The best overworld map out there, the size is MASSIVE and full of content (hidden areas, superbosses, shortcuts, lore and more) -You can camp everywhere on the map -Camp is your hub that will change overtime (extra dialogue, new NPCs, side content, listen to music and more) -You can level up your relationships with various characters -Romances are also a thing -Exploration is very rewarding, no minimap works great -Dedicated jump button and no fall damage is a huge win -There are so many cool things to collect -The game will respect your time, no long walks and good checkpoints -New outfits and weapons will look different (also in cutscenes) -You can skip cutscenes before boss attempts -The combat is super fun and a mix of Persona, Final Fantasy 10 and Legend of Dragoon -One button press combat is just stunning and will flow over time -You can see every enemy before the fight, quick in and out -Some of the boss fights are gigantic with insane attacks and some stunning "From Software boss arenas" (no joke) -The enemy variety is great with some terrifying creature design -The build variety is also crazy with so many combinations -Some of the late game bosses and especially the superbosses are no joke -Soundtrack is insane and every track is a banger -Different battle themes, boss themes, secret boss themes and many more -Some of the tracks especially in the emotional scenes hit me so hard -Game is super polished but I've encountered some small bugs (sound disappear, could no longer jump and some other small things) -Bugs got easy fixed with a reload (day 1 patch could fix that) -Not a fan of some jumping puzzles, but there are optional -Skill management becomes a little bit confusing as the game progresses (menu design could be better) -Would love a mechanic to kill lower level enemies fast and quick -New game plus on day 1 (with extra stuff) is amazing -The game is made by around 30 people, 30 hours of main story, 30 hours of bonus content, insane number of outfits, story focused, no microtransactions bullshit, new game plus mode on day 1 and a price tag of around 50 bucks, need I say more This game is brimming with attention to detail and is a true passion project by fans for fans. Descending from Harald Fairhair of the Ulvungar bloodline. Ruling from 1046 until his death in 1066, this towering warrior carried the untamed spirit of the old North. After years in exile he had served as a legendary commander of the Varangian Guard in Constantinople, amassed great wealth across distant lands, and returned to claim the throne. Yet his final journey ended on English soil at the Battle of Stamford Bridge in 1066. With his fall, the long and glorious chapter of the Viking Age drew to a close. With the old temples silenced and the sacred groves cut down, a long shadow began to fall over the Land of the North. The first hundred years after the year 1000 AD were marked by open violence. Kings and bishops worked together to crush resistance. Those who clung to the old ways faced harsh punishment, exile, or death. Sacred sites were destroyed, ancient festivals forbidden, and the spirit of the people was deliberately broken. This was no gentle conversion to Christianity. It was a calculated campaign to shatter the proud heart of the people of the North. The Church had found its Trojan horse. Once its power was established, the violence slowly changed form. The Fourth Crusade (1202-1204 CE) was called by Pope Innocent III (r. 1198-1216 CE) to retake Jerusalem from its current Muslim overlords. However, in a bizarre combination of cock-ups, financial constraints, and Venetian trading ambitions, the target ended up being Constantinople, capital of the Byzantine Empire and the greatest Christian city in the world. Sacked on 12 April 1204 CE, Constantinople was stripped of its riches, relics, and artworks, and the Byzantine Empire was divided up between Venice and its allies. The Fourth Crusade thus gained its infamous reputation as the most cynical and profit-seeking of all the crusades. The Byzantines saw themselves as the defenders of Christendom, the beacon which shone out across the Mediterranean and central Asia, hosts to the holiest city outside Jerusalem, and the rock which stood against the tide of Islam sweeping in from the east. By the western half of the old Roman Empire, though, the Byzantines were regarded as decadent, shifty, and untrustworthy; even their religious practices were suspect. This essential division between the east and west had caused constant problems in all the previous crusades, and it was to crop up again in this one. There were also more concrete sources of division, the historical rivalry between popes and emperors, and the rising ambition of western states to wrest from Byzantium the remnants of its empire in Italy were fuelled by the failures of the crusades in permanently securing the Holy Land for Christendom. Blame was apportioned to either side for the lack of success. The Byzantines were considered to lack the will to fight the common Muslim enemy while, from the other side, the Crusaders were seen as opportunists out to grab the choicest parts of the Byzantine Empire in the east. In a sense, both sides were right in their judgement. The Third Crusade (1187-1192 CE), although achieving some notable military successes, had failed completely in its original objective of recapturing Jerusalem from the Muslim Sultan of Egypt and Syria, Saladin (r. 1174-1193 CE). The celebrated Sultan was now dead, but the Holy City remained in Muslim hands. Yet another crusade was required. The Fourth Crusade was thus called for by Pope Innocent III (r. 1198-1216 CE) in August 1198 CE. As previously, those who went to the Holy Land and fought the infidels would receive a remission of their sins, but as an added incentive, Innocent III now extended this ‘benefit’ to those who gave the necessary money to fund a warrior to go in their stead. The Pope’s timing was not the best, especially considering the Holy City had anyway been in Muslim hands since 1187 CE. In the final years of the 12th century CE, all four monarchs of Europe’s most powerful kingdoms, England, France, Germany, and Spain, were busy with internal affairs, and in the case of England and France, serious territorial squabbles with each other. Worse still, in April 1199 CE, the great Crusader king Richard I of England (r. 1189-1199 CE), who had promised to return to the Holy Land and finish his undone work during the Third Crusade, died on campaign in France. Unlike the previous Crusade, then, this was not to be a “Kings’ Crusade”. Still, a good number of second-tier nobles were inspired to join up or ‘take the cross’, as it was known, especially from northern France. Sacked on 12 April 1204 CE, Constantinople was stripped of its riches, relics, and artworks, and the Byzantine Empire was divided up between Venice and its allies. The Fourth Crusade thus gained its infamous reputation as the most cynical and profit-seeking of all the crusades. The Byzantines saw themselves as the defenders of Christendom, the beacon which shone out across the Mediterranean and central Asia, hosts to the holiest city outside Jerusalem, and the rock which stood against the tide of Islam sweeping in from the east. By the western half of the old Roman Empire, though, the Byzantines were regarded as decadent, shifty, and untrustworthy; even their religious practices were suspect. This essential division between the east and west had caused constant problems in all the previous crusades, and it was to crop up again in this one. There were also more concrete sources of division, the historical rivalry between popes and emperors, and the rising ambition of western states to wrest from Byzantium the remnants of its empire in Italy were fuelled by the failures of the crusades in permanently securing the Holy Land for Christendom. Blame was apportioned to either side for the lack of success. The Byzantines were considered to lack the will to fight the common Muslim enemy while, from the other side, the Crusaders were seen as opportunists out to grab the choicest parts of the Byzantine Empire in the east. In a sense, both sides were right in their judgement. The Third Crusade (1187-1192 CE), although achieving some notable military successes, had failed completely in its original objective of recapturing Jerusalem from the Muslim Sultan of Egypt and Syria, Saladin (r. 1174-1193 CE). The celebrated Sultan was now dead, but the Holy City remained in Muslim hands. Yet another crusade was required. The Fourth Crusade was thus called for by Pope Innocent III (r. 1198-1216 CE) in August 1198 CE. As previously, those who went to the Holy Land and fought the infidels would receive a remission of their sins, but as an added incentive, Innocent III now extended this ‘benefit’ to those who gave the necessary money to fund a warrior to go in their stead. The Pope’s timing was not the best, especially considering the Holy City had anyway been in Muslim hands since 1187 CE. In the final years of the 12th century CE, all four monarchs of Europe’s most powerful kingdoms, England, France, Germany, and Spain, were busy with internal affairs, and in the case of England and France, serious territorial squabbles with each other. Worse still, in April 1199 CE, the great Crusader king Richard I of England (r. 1189-1199 CE), who had promised to return to the Holy Land and finish his undone work during the Third Crusade, died on campaign in France. Unlike the previous Crusade, then, this was not to be a “Kings’ Crusade”. Still, a good number of second-tier nobles were inspired to join up or ‘take the cross’, as it was known, especially from northern France. There were the counts of Champagne and Blois (although the former would die before the expedition got underway), Geoffrey of Villehardouin (who would later write his Conquest of Constantinople, an important record of the Crusade), Count Baldwin of Flanders, and Simon de Montfort. 🎥© historyaillustration (IG) © Mark Cartwright #archaeohistories
