Close look of the Incident involving Arik Air flight W3 740 (Lagos to Port Harcourt)✈️ On February 11, 2026, a Boeing 737-700 aircraft (registration 5N-MJF) operated by Arik Air on flight W3 740 from Lagos to Port Harcourt diverted to Benin Airport. During descent toward Port Harcourt International Airport in Omagwa, the crew heard a loud bang from the left engine. As a safety precaution, the pilots promptly diverted the plane to Benin, where it landed safely. No passengers or crew members were injured— all 80 people on board disembarked without issue. Arik Air has arranged alternative transportation to get the affected passengers to Port Harcourt.

For the first time in many years, Nigeria is witnessing an unprecedented wave of road construction projects. No administration before President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s has embarked on repairs and new builds at this scale. Across the country, the evidence is visible: - Southwest & South-South: - Shagamu–Benin Expressway - Ore–Akure Road - Akure–Ado Road - Benin–Sapele–Warri route - Benin–Asaba Road Ibadan - Akure road - Southeast & South-South: - Port Harcourt–Enugu Road - Benue–Enugu Road - East–West Road (Port Harcourt–Warri section, ~75% complete) - Enugu–Onitsha Expressway (~60% complete) - Benin–Auchi–Okene Road (~55% complete) - Newly built Eke Obinagu Flyover, Enugu Ebony - Calabar - Abuja road. The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has indicted an Air Peace pilot and a Co-pilot for taking alcohol and other substances. The accident investigators tested the crew positive for the substances after the aircraft they flew was involved in a runway excursion at the Port Harcourt International Airport on July 13. It's to be noted that Air Peace Flight P47190 operated by 5N-BQQ from Lagos to Port Harcourt had suffered a runway excursion on landing at Port Harcourt Int’l Airport at 7:45 a.m., July 13, 2025. Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau says investigation is continuing after toxicology tests confirmed alcohol and cannabis in their systems. #safety #aviation

Some units of the refinery are functional, but it is not the entire refinery, as has been claimed in the media.
