this DI is being kind and gentle. Ours were beasts from the pits of hell and that was on a good day, and I wasn't even a gyrene. Just plain old Army infantry. But they were all decorated Vietnam veterans who knew how to get your mind right for war. Not hand holding in the wokeist military...

I was older than most in my recruit company. Our CPO had me teaching the slow ones as I'd managed to graduate college. Some clearly just didn't have the mental acuity to do it. Future paint chippers. But I got them all passed through academics! Quite possibly a highpoint for me.

Had a buddy who forgot the wooden rod for securing a tourniquet in place. Drill asked him several times, if he was finished, are you sure private?Made him put the rod in his mouth and place the other end against a tr double e. And repeat over and over for a half hour “I’m an idiot”, “I’m an idiot”. 😂😂😂 dudes mouth was sore for days 😂😂😂

Boot camp was memorable for sure 🫡
