I get that there are rules and regulations, but watching this much food go straight into the trash is painful. There has to be a better way for big retailers to handle situations like this. If their fridges go down, they should be allowed to call a church or local organization to pick up the food and get it to people who actually need it—instead of dumping it all. This needs to change. They could write it off as a donation, and everyone wins.

LA officials choose not to and now don't even seem to be able to support ICE and getting illegal immigrants out of our country. ICE needs help. Our federal workers have been demonized since Trump took office and they are now being forced to work without pay, furloughed or even fired. That’s why Sam and I stopped by yesterday to thank some of our local federal employees for their service and delivered donuts and coffee to start their day. But they deserve much more than pastries. They deserve a functioning government where they can continue to do their critical work to support us and keep us safe. Thank you for continuing to serve our country. We need you more than ever.
