I once found a small purse in a park. It had a wallet with about $80 bucks in it, some other stuff. A first name written in it, but no ID. Also quite a few receipts in it for lunch at a mall about 20 miles from where I lived. I called all of the restaurants and finally found someone who recognized the owner. She worked in the mall and was ecstatic I'd found her. This person, with a PRESCRIPTION bottle could easily have figured out who that belonged to. You call the doctor and say "I found one of your patient's bags with their medication. Here's my phone number/email, have them contact me."

Million miler here. United vs Spirit Landed & went to rental car center in SFO & had left my computer bag under my seat. Called UA Premier desk who called the gate agent who went to my seat & retrieved my bag & arranged to have it sent to baggage claim where I picked it up.

Spirit Airlines twice attempted mergers with other mid-sized airlines (Frontier & JetBlue). The Justice Department blocked both mergers. Instead of being consumed into a better-run airline, providing better services, and giving travelers another option, Spirit is now facing a likely second bankruptcy within a year that it is unlikely to survive. Somehow, DOJ believes a combined Spirit-Frontier discount airline would give consumers fewer choices unlike the big 3 airlines United, American, and Delta.

This has been going on for a longtime. I accidentally left a video camera on a plane and tried to get it back within minutes and was told nothing was on the plane. The cleaning crew stole it. I also had several items over the past 30 years stolen from my checked luggage.
