A group of friends one night decided to visit Nada tunnel, an allegedly haunted tunnel along Rte 77 in Kentucky. Some sources claim it’s haunted by the ghost of a climber who fell, others claim it’s a construction worker who ascended due to an accident with a stick of dynamite. The friends creep through the 900 ft long tunnel which is only one lane, unlit. Ever listen to a song and instantly feel like a movie starts playing in your head? That’s what this Highwaymen clip still does to me. No lasers. No giant screens. Just four guys under plain stage lights at Nassau Coliseum in 1990. And somehow the whole Wild West shows up anyway. Willie opens like an old cowboy telling the story by a campfire. Then Johnny Cash comes in and the room gets darker. You can almost see those red-eyed cattle running across the night sky. When they hit the chorus together, it feels like one long tracking shot of ghost riders chasing a horizon that never ends. I keep coming back to this version because it proves something I still believe about classic country: the picture is already in the song. You don’t need a $20 million stage to make people see it. You need voices that have lived a little, and the nerve to let the story breathe. Every time I play it, I see the same scene first: empty canyon, cold wind, a herd that will never stop running. America’s fertility rate is 1.62, far below the 2.1 replacement level, and the 2025 Social Security Trustees Report warns the trust fund will be insolvent by 2034. The United Nations projects that by 2100 more than sixty countries will have half as many working-age adults and three times as many retirees. Without an influx of younger workers, economies contract, entitlements collapse, and entire towns turn into ghost retirement communities. Immigration might be the only proven, immediate remedy. Working-age immigrants pay taxes from day one and start businesses at twice the rate of native-born citizens. The United States became the world’s largest economy between 1880 and 1920 precisely because millions of young immigrants arrived and built it. The drawbacks are real: short-term wage pressure on low-skill natives crowded classrooms, higher rents, and the inevitable friction of integration. But the uncomfortable fact stands: the loudest voices against “replacement” are presiding over the fastest population’s actual disappearance. Controlled, skills-focused immigration is not cultural surrender. We can choose sensible rules and reasonable numbers, or we can choose dignified extinction.

We must speak truth to power: • The Department of Health under Secretary Herbosa has failed to deliver dignified, efficient, and compassionate care. • PhilHealth is being defunded while case rates for top killer diseases remain dangerously low. • Ghost hospitals and alleged corruption continue to plague our system. • The poor are left to endure misery while officials remain silent or dismissive. This is not just incompetence—it is a betrayal of public trust.
