Imagine an AI application that can type anywhere you can and use the full context of what's on your screen. This is the application we all deserve (at least if you have macOS.) Check out Omnipilot. It's an app that works with every other macOS application and uses Claude Sonet 3.5 in the background—it also supports Gemini and GPT-4o. Here is the idea: You can use the tool to ask questions about anything on your screen. Or you can use it to autocomplete the text you are typing. You don't need to copy and paste anymore or waste your time providing context to a model. It sees what you see. It works right where you are. That's pretty cool. Here's a short video (4m) that goes into more detail on how "vim mode" works in Ghostty and the multitude of features that are composed together to make it all work. This showcases how powerful Ghostty's keybinding system is getting! And don't worry, I plan on shipping a built-in "vim mode" table (unbound by default) so you can bind an opinionated "vim mode" with a single line in your config. But, if you want to modify it in any way, that's completely possible because this all works via standard config.

Did you know CS v1.16 and newer versions have options? By pressing START in the CS menu, you can toggle between the list and grid view, toggle movesets and restrict them (HOST only). You can also change your menu color and toggle voice, music and object/textures (v1.16.2)!

We've got new info about the China-exclusive PvE-friendly mode: In this map condition: - You cannot damage any other Raider. - You can still rebel out, but your backpack antenna will blink red, and you're marked as an enemy to everyone who sees you. This is a map condition. It is not a permanent PvE mode or a toggle you can turn on. I wonder if anyone would even like this if it were in the global client. I honestly don't think it's a good idea.

Read 100 paywalled research papers for free every month! You don't even need a university account to do this. Here's how to read paywalled papers on JSTOR for free: 1. Go to jstor(dot)org and click on "Register" in the top-right corner. You can register with your personal Google or Outlook account. Or, you can create a JSTOR account manually. 2. Once you've logged in to your JSTOR account, click on "Workspace" in the menu bar. Then click on "Create folder." Choose a name for your folder and click on "Create."Creating folders in Workspace is a great way to keep your papers organized. 3. Type in the keywords in the search bar to find relevant papers. JSTOR willl give you a list of papers. To read a paper for free, click on "Read online." You will see a preview of the paper. Scroll down a bit and click on "Read Online" again. 4. If you find the paper super-relevant to your project, click on "Save" on the top of the article. Choose the folder you just created in your Workspace and save the paper in it. If you go to your Workspace, the paper will show up in the relevant folder. 5. You can also take notes on papers in your Workspace. To do so, click on the "Add Note" button under a paper and start typing. Click on "Save" to your save your note. 6. If you already have a paper and you want to related to it, you can use Text Analyzer. To do so, click on "Tools" and select "Text Analyzer." Upload the paper you have and JSTOR will give you a list of papers related to you original paper. 7. Text Analyzer also lets you callibrate your search parameters. Have you ever wanted your terminal to look like an authentic CRT? Of course you have. Well, LOOK NO FURTHER because the future (or is it the past?) is now. And people ask why you'd ever need a GPU-rendered terminal.... HAH! My yak has no more hair to shave. This demo is crazier than it seems: you can actually specify any custom shader, and the shader API is compatible with ShaderToy, so you can take any off-the-shelf shader from ShaderToy and this works. The tech behind this is super over the top. Ghostty is cross-platform and uses Metal directly on macOS and OpenGL on Linux. Metal and OpenGL use different shading languages. No problem! You specify the custom shader in GLSL (OpenGL language) and it’s automatically translated to SPIR-V (binary IR) then automatically translated to MSL (Metal language). That all happens at runtime because why not. Yeah but this has to kill your battery right? Nope! <1% CPU and <1% GPU because computers are fast (especially when you're working at a relatively low level).

First of its kind? New feature in Ghostty: a web-inspector-style "terminal inspector" targeted at CLI, TUI developers. Built right into the terminal, you can see a live view of terminal state, keyboard events, escape sequences, and much much more. 👻💖 Video tour below. Similar to Firebug with Firefox, I'm hoping this helps usher in a new era of develop-ability for terminal applications by making it much much easier to understand what is going on. When the inspector is not in use, there is no perceivable performance impact (benchmarks show the same). When the inspector is in use, the terminal it is inspecting slows down to about half speed due to the overhead. But this only impacts the terminal being inspected. This is a really early version of the inspector. The data organization is kind of messy, its mostly read-only information right now, and there is a lot more information I want to surface. The next step is making a lot of this data read-write so you can actually modify the terminal live (similar to modifying HTML/CSS live in a web inspector) to trial-and-error some changes. This is just the beginning. 😎 Follow along Ghostty development here:

day 4 of building an OpenCode clone from scratch i have a newfound appreciation for how good this tool is, and how much attention to detail was put into making it. here is what i managed to clone, and problems i've encountered: 1. scrollable autocomplete. mouse click to select, mousewheel to scroll, arrow keys that auto-scroll when you hit the edge, enter to confirm, sounds simple, but remember that this is a CLI tool, not a web app, all of this has to be implemented from the ground up 2. toast notifications in the terminal, success/error/info variants, auto-dismiss, easily triggerable through context 3. modal dialogs with backdrop overlay, click-outside-to-close, escape to dismiss, focus trapping so the content behind stops capturing input, again, seems simple, but the concept of a "dialog" does not exist in the terminal, so implementing it is way harder 4. built a responder chain for keyboard input, only the topmost layer owns the keyboard. ctrl+c walks down: dialog > command menu > clear input > exit. had to invent this because there's no built-in focus management in a terminal 5. generic command actions. each command gets a context with toast, dialog, and navigate (easily extendable for further features) 6. react-router with a memory router in a terminal app. navigate between screens with the same patterns as web 7. Been seeing this float around, closing wings won't change your general FPS. You only see FPS impact from the wing menus when the menu is open. When the menu is closed there is no impact. Because the FPS counter is in the menu you have to use external overlays to see this.
