Do you have the talent or the skill on the outside, in the backfield to be able to say, 'listen, we're going to get a rookie quarterback and let those guys make plays for him.' Do you have a guy already? And usually if you have a guy, he can make the skill players look better than what they are, too. To me, it always depends on who you have. That's why I want to answer that question, because it's tough to answer just straight on."

If it turns out to be dangerous, people will just sue them. And they’re worried about financial liability. That’s not how we treat airlines, or drug companies, or food companies. We now have 150 years of experience just letting the market do whatever it wants when it comes to things that deeply affect our health and our safety. And so, there’s no replacement for an effective, government regulatory structure. And the challenge we have is that obviously, we have a president currently that has said that’s for losers. So, we’ve got a gap, at least of a couple of years, where things are moving really fast, and we have an administration that is not capable of or willing to, I would argue both, of putting together a serious regulatory framework, which is why I actually think we should be encouraging some sort of voluntary industry restraint, not because it’s a replacement, but because that may be the best we can do for now until we can get Congress and the White House to start getting serious about this."

Asked Jayson Tatum if — given how everything panned out — he still felt certain that he made the right decision to return this season after so much back and forth: “100%. I'm very happy that I came back to be a part of this team, got back to doing what I love, to help give us a chance to compete for a championship, to prove to myself that I can get back to being the guy who I was, and hopefully better. And just to kind of defy what this injury means — not necessarily from a standpoint of, ‘I'm great look at what I was able to accomplish,‘ but to give other guys hope. Obviously I don't want anybody to have to go through tearing their Achilles, but in the unfortunate event that it does happen, that I can be sort of inspirational — if you attack rehab a certain way if you follow these guidelines, or do it a certain way, that it's not like a career-ending injury, that you can come back, that you can be yourself, that you can be better, that it won't take 18 months, that you can come back, whenever is right for you. So I'm happy and proud of the fact that I was able to do that, and unfortunately, if somebody else has to deal with this, they can look at what I was able to do and and have some hope and inspiration that it's not what people used to think it was. And, you can come back from this, and be who you were and hopefully be better.“
