Baby iguanas can run up to 20 mph to escape predators, like snakes. They are also very good at climbing, which gives them another way to escape predators. This stunning video shows the epic battle between a baby iguana and hundreds of hungry snakes! Their long, slender bodies and strong legs help them to move quickly. They can also change their color to blend in with their surroundings, making it more difficult for predators to see them. If a predator does catch up to them, baby iguanas can shed their tails as a distraction. The tail will grow back eventually, but it gives the iguana time to escape. Baby iguanas are fascinating creatures that have evolved to survive in their environment. #babyiguanas #speed #predators #snakes #fascinatingcreatures #Facts 📹 BBC Earth

At least lions try to suffocate their victims instead of tearing them apart while they’re alive. Not many predators do that.

“We are bishops, but first and foremost we are disciples.” Pope Leo XIV reminded 147 new bishops from five continents that their first responsibility is to “remain with Jesus.” He urged them to become shepherds who know their people personally: “Learn their names, listen to their stories, enter their homes whenever possible, and pray with them.” The Pope also called them to care especially for their priests, reminding them that even a phone call, visit, blessing or word of encouragement can remain in someone’s heart for a lifetime. They have already answered the call to reserve 5 times, each of them fighting like lions for more than 500 days - and once again, our heroic reserve soldiers leave behind their homes, their wives, their children, their loved ones. This time, they are marching to defeat Hamas. 👉 Our duty is clear: to stand by them. to support them. to pray for them. to demand their safe return. 🙏💙🇮🇱

Drizzlers fire shots that create rainclouds of ink while hiding behind the protection of armored umbrellas. These Salmonids are most vulnerable right when they shoot, as the recoil causes their umbrella to flip. Sending their own rounds back at them is also a great way tactic.

Baby swans, also called cygnets, often rest on their mother's back for warmth, protection, and balance. Staying on her back keeps them above cold water and away from predators, while also helping them conserve energy. This behavior also strengthens the bond between the mother and her cygnets and helps regulate their body temperature during their first, vulnerable weeks of life. A mother's love is amazing.

We spend most of kid’s time in school teaching them how to find pre-prescribed “right answers,” not how to think for themselves. That’s hugely problematic for their long-term capacity to reason, problem solve, and create.
