Had a visit to Madgaon railway station recently. The amenities over the railway station are too pathetic. The station handles around a lakh passengers daily. The station doesn't even have decent seating facilities.

The Skills Development Act is clear: “(4) If a SETA has not complied with an instruction issued in terms of section 14A, the Minister may- (b) invoke section 15 without further notice to the SETA.” In other words, the power to invoke section 15 flows from section 14A. Reliance on section 15(4) applies only to bypass consultation, in 15(1), not to irrationally skip issuing instructions. The Act requires the Minister to issue an instruction before invoking section 15. This is basic Administrative Justice. Basic!

The 6-lane extradosed Prestressed Concrete (PSC) bridge, built at a cost of around Rs 3,030 crore, connects Guwahati with North Guwahati and is the first extradosed bridge in Northeast India. It will cut travel time between Guwahati-North Guwahati to 7 minutes. Considering the high seismicity of the region, the bridge incorporates base isolation technology using friction pendulum bearings. High-performance stay cables have been used to ensure durability and long-term structural performance. SCHOOL RENOVATION/ ESTABLISHMENT OF SECONDARY SCHOOL SECTION I carried out an inspection visit to ODIA PRIMARY SCHOOL (EVBODIA) in Iyekogba, Edo State to assess the ongoing renovation and construction works. This project covers the renovation of two blocks of 12 classrooms, the construction of an additional block of 6 classrooms, the building of a perimeter fence, as well as the installation of a borehole and toilet facilities. I am impressed with the work done so far, and it is evident that the project is near completion. Also with the help of the Edo State Ministry of Education, my formal request for the inclusion of a secondary school section in the school was approved. With this development, the school has now been upgraded to host a Junior Secondary section, making it the FIRST SECONDARY SCHOOL within the entire district of over 40 communities. Hence the school will now be known as ODIA PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOL. I sincerely appreciate the State Ministry of Education and the Commissioner of Education for the timely approval. This is a great step forward for Iyekogba and the surrounding communities, and this further strengthens our commitment to improving access to quality education and modern infrastructure for all our children in Oredo. I joined His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama on the Thank You Tour in the Central Region. The tour culminated in a gathering at the Victoria Park in Cape Coast. It was attended by the Omanhen of the Oguaa Traditional Area, the president and members of the Central Regional House of Chiefs, a large retinue of Queen mothers, elders, MPs, and many others from the region. This event was an expression of gratitude to the people of the Central Region for their significant contribution to our victory in the 2024 elections. I emphasized the importance of standing firm in our collective pursuit of progress and inclusivity in governance. We also reaffirmed our commitment to equitable development rather than serving a select few. As part of this pledge, we outlined key initiatives for the Central Region, including: * Reviving the Komenda Sugar Factory to stimulate economic growth and job creation, especially for our youth. * Constructing a modern market in Mankessim to enhance trade and commerce. * Investing in major educational infrastructure to improve learning conditions and access to quality education. Following extensive inspections by experts from SVNIT, IIT Roorkee, and IIT Bombay, revealing serious cracks within the pillars, the authorities rolled back from an initial Rs 236-crore repair plan to a complete teardown of the 1973 bridge.
