Winter’s back, and so is Quebec’s energy hypocrisy. Quebec relies on Alberta oil and gas, then receives equalization payments funded by the very industry it condemns. Meanwhile, Blanchett tells Alberta to “stop drilling” and “transition” our economy which is easy to say from a province with no production and plenty of revenue. Let’s have honest federalism: if you rely on Alberta energy, don’t vilify the people who produce it or the province that helps pay the bills.

Blanchet doesn't like the accounting on the "tax credits" for clean energy Carney finishes with "The truth is that right now Quebec is using 350,000 barrels of oil a day, so carbon has to be captured for the production and transport of those barrels." Those are imported barrels of oil, mostly from the US, but it begs the question: does Carney expect Canadians to pay for the decarbonization of oil being imported from other countries now?
