GitHub just released a technical preview of the "GitHub Copilot App" - a new agentic development tool that brings agents and @GitHub together in one pane of glass. I've been using this daily for a few weeks. I think you're going to love it.

@github This looks awesome!! But I must admit, I'm not sure how to position this against the VSCode Agents app that was also just released. When do I use what? How do they differ, where do each shine? Feels like as a user I'm hurt by two teams not having a cohesive product plan.

@github cc: @pierceboggan for his thoughts here

@github These kinds of integrations is what makes github/copilot a super special developer experience

@github Agreed!

@github what's the difference between this and VS Code Agents app

@github cc: @pierceboggan

@github Just installed it on windows and..no WSL support?

@github I....didn't try it with WSL yet. cc: @_Evan_Boyle

@github The feedback doesnt seems to be working - @_Evan_Boyle

@github @_Evan_Boyle That's some good feedback

@github Super. If we can also bring in Jira or linear - feature request management in the app that will consolidate multiple apps in one.

@github It’s amazing!!!!! Installed today and already loving it!

@github How is it better than VS Code and why didn't they just enhance VS Code instead?

@github react scan spotted

@github Waiting to get un-waitlisted. 😅

@github Looks beautiful - now if only there was way to get a Terminal experience in there with each project session that would be amazing.

@github Nice!

@github Feels like the next IDE split is less editor vs editor and more who owns the issue to PR loop.

@github thanks Burke this is the best post explaining what this App does. I am already loving it. I am still trying to show HTML page side by side with chat section though.

@github Anyway to get access. I already applied.

@github I'll be 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘨𝘶𝘺 today. I love seeing all this new stuff, and we had a good run. But if I can't afford to use it for more than one day a month now, it's like looking at a performance sports car ad. My respect to the devs who can afford the tokens. Use them in good health.

@github This was very helpful. Thank you Burke

@github Signed up

@github Could you help me with startups?

@github Interesting. I built Concilium ( to solve a similar problem, be fun to compare.

@github The priceeeeeeeeeeeeee

Anyone else getting this on first session request? Error: Execution failed: Error: 400 "checking third-party user token: bad request: Personal Access Tokens are not supported for this endpoint\n" (Request ID: E599:3D91FF:607E4C:690DC2:6A075036) I had copilot scrutinize that there is no trace of a PAT anywhere and that I'm authenticating correctly with OAuth. No issues in my account setup - all looks green and connected.

@github If you guys add a Deepseek V4 Flash level FREE model + 50% off on API Cost like Cursor; then the $39 Sub becomes a very good option for me and many these apps are cool but the price is important too

@github @code agent app is dead

@github Exactly like Codex

@github Is it?

@github This is amazing ! Great walkthrough ❤️ can the agent access the accessibility tree of the browser and drive it through Playwright or other equivalent AI browser drivers ? Can’t wait to get my hands on it !

@github Every new agentic dev tool asks the wrong question. It's not about one pane of glass. It's local or cloud. An agent that can't see your filesystem is just a chatbot with better branding.
