I’ll never forget my first day of high school marching band as a flute player. Was handed a piccolo and sent off with a senior section leader. She showed us some stuff and then sighed heavily and said, “ugh, the piccolo is just the most heinous instrument.”

Our band director had a joke: How do you tune two piccolos? You shoot one.
