100 Yards 门前宝地 [2024] Directed By: Xu Haofeng Following the same beats with his previous film the Final Master [2015] in settling disputes in the art of fighting. Xu Haofeng is one of the few action directors that does the action in using traditional styles and weapon usage in his films that are beautifully shot, composed and framed. You are not going to see hyper fighting, high wire action or MMA. This is old school, with methods displaying how to beat said style that makes you look back on how the counterattack was perform. Very reminiscent of what Bruce Lee was conveying in his short filmography to an extent. The fluid motions of the attacks, the setups and the fights having a very grounded approach truly makes this film shine and stand on its own from the rest that was released this year. This is truly Andy On's best on-screen film performance. Well Go USA Entertainment has the rights for this film and you know they will bless the Digital and Physical release of this film. Truly a remarkable year for them.

Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In [2024] Directed By: Soi Cheang Captured from the amazing and reference quality Blu-Ray from Well Go USA Entertainment that drops on November 19th. This is also getting a 4K release. This is a must own on 4K due to the fact this film was shot in 4.5K. The ATMOS track is the best I heard this year and utilizes the channels properly and the action is one of the best this year also in critics top three action films of the year. And to my fellow English Dub fans, an English Dub is included and is very solid. You can pre-order over at DiabolikDVD.com

I personally love the plot twist and the ending for Alex Garland’s directorial debut in Ex Machina with Alicia Vikander, Oscar Isaac and Domhnall Gleeson . . . everything about this film from the music selection to the cinematography to the acting and directing was perfect in my opinion. Tangent but respectfully I haven’t found Alex’s other work as great or even close to the level of this film but this is definitely one of my favorite films of 2014.

The Furious [2026] Directed By: Kenji Tanigaki Xie Miao, also known as Mo Tse, was part of two iconic films with Jet Li. New Legend Of Shaolin and My Father The Hero. Very well received films within the genre. He took a break to focus on his studies after his childhood acting career and did a few films after like the Champions in 2008 but after the late 2K10s he went back at full force and one of the most notable films are the Eye For An Eye franchise. Which in the second film he co-stars with Yang Enyou, who happens to be in this film as well. What makes this film special is the Hong Kong and Japanese connection. So, seeing Kensuke Sonomura choreograph traditional Chinese martial arts his eye opening and away from his comfort zone but still keeping his brawler aesthetic which he is known for which usually he flavors boxing and BJJ. With notable legends in this film like Joe Taslim, Yayan Ruhian and JeeJa Yanin where people might recognize this Thai actress from Chocolate we were sure to get a banger and we sure did. Especially from the amazing output form Brain Le and Joey Iwanaga.

Prisoner of War [2025] Directed By: Louis Mandylor So far like I mentioned a few times here these past few months this is my action film of the year so far and one of Scott Adkins finest work since Avengement [2019] his acting, combat approach and just his overall character in this film is just great. The OST and sound design in this film is just too good. An interesting take on WW2 where they used POW's as entertainment by the Japanese soldiers but James Wright (Scott Adkins) is no ordinary soldier and has very interesting background regarding his skills. I highly recommend doing a double feature with Showdown in Little Tokyo. Because Mark Lester mentioned at the QA over at BIG BAD FILM FEST about his cut of that film (Hopefully it gets picked up) that is very similar to what you see here. La Città Proibita AKA The Forbidden City [2025] Directed By: Gabriele Mainetti Finally got to watch this and what a surprise this Italian film was. With choreography done by Trayan Milenov-Troy of Alpha Stunts and Emiliano Novelli of EAStunts (Not the gaming studio). I should have known this was going to bring the heat. Really dig the story of Mei played by Yaxi Liu (This is her first leading role but been doing stunts for a minute) on looking for his sister while captive we get to see the trials and tribulations different immigrant ethnic groups face in Italy. While the hunt for the truth is how the film starts of, we get a lot of character depth and background, motivations for said actions and what it is to be loved or not. Really a great film and you get at least five solid quality action scenes with one very epic one in this 2hr film. Now, the romance in this is great but one felt a little force, they had the buildup but rushed it. Two, they should have swapped one part of the finale with the earlier encounter before it got there. Overall, the ending was, how can I put it. It was sweet. Really loved this film, especially the freaking soundtrack. Great selection of classic Italian music and Chinese. Well Go USA Entertainment has acquired the rights for this film so be ready to get bless and massive thanks to thefanaticaldragon on the reminder of this film.

Region A folks can see why this is one of the most talk about films in the genre with Joyce Godenzi, Sammo Hung's wife. This is available now thanks to MVD Entertainment

Affinity [2025] Director: Brandon Slagle Another gem that was shown over at BIG BAD FILM FEST starring and written by Marko Zaror. Which drops on September 30th on Digital & Physical from Well Go USA Entertainment This film with a former Navy Seal who suffers from PTSD and living his life in Thailand with his military buddies definitely took a wild turn into Sci-Fi territory. Marko script tackles many themes, which I found very ambitious for an 80min film, but he made it work to a certain degree, and I attribute that to budget. I wish the film had Brooke Enge featured more, because she was great in this and Louis Mandylor stole the film for me. Overall, I'm looking forward to Marko doing more writing in the future because this one shows he has one creative mind and looking forward to what else he is cooking. Because I had a lot of fun with this film.

Very Hong Kong inspired gunplay and a blast all round. The Dragon from Russia 红场飞龙 [1990] Directed By: Clarence Fok Another Hong Kong manga adaption based on Crying Freeman by the great Clarence Fok who gave us Naked Killer, Iceman Cometh, Gun & Rose and Martial Angels. While a lot of us got a soft spot for the Marc Dacascos 1995 film "Crying Freeman" This take during the peak on Hong Kong Cinema was amazing the on the films they produced, especially with adaptions like The Story Of Ricky-Oh. Plus, we get Maggie Cheung in this film which is always a bonus.

The Bodyguard 保镖 [2024] Directed By: Qin Pengfei Yang Xing (Na Na AKA Lollipop Girl) introduction in this scene solidifies that she was going to be that badass villain in this film. Not surprising coming from one of the Queens of Chinese Action DTV films. With Qu Jingjing climbing up the ranks as well in the action cinema space for a while and being in Qin Pengfei films. Hopefully she does more of this caliber and also got to work again with Yang Xing in The Raid 2025.

😨: Assamese Film goes wild, shows Gay couple kissing‼️ This has to be one of the most ‘explicit’ films in the Assamese film industry where the film chose to openly show a gay couple kissing on screen. ‘Satya: The Truth’ - a film directed by Rupjyoti Borthakur, and written by Chandan Talukdar portrays a gay love story. A young ball falls in love with a successful businessman. The film features popular actor Utpal Das along with Rakesh Baruah - who played the role of gay in the film. In this video clip, both of them can be seen in an intimate scene. This comes as an ice-break for the industry as a whole as Assamese Film Industry has always been conservative about the content it shows. While some applaud the makers for taking it up as a bold step, some criticise it because of is ‘too explicit’. On another hand, the film narrates a story to normalise homosexuality in society and that it should not be considered alien but should show acceptance towards the same.
