Remembering Mangala’s 70th ❤️🙏 This year for what would have been late Minister Mangala Samaraweera Mangala Samaraweera ’s 70th Birthday on April 21st, his family are engaging in several initiatives over the course of 2026 that reflect his various interests, 3 of which we are happy to share today: 1. Mangala Would be Reading the The Examiner An avid reader, Mangala was proud to gather a personal library of over 2500 books in his lifetime. And in 2025, the majority of these books were donated to public libraries and institutions around the country. This year, in keeping with that spirit, the Samaraweera family is supporting upto 100 Free 6-Month subscriptions to The Examiner. They believe Mangala would have been a fan & close-reader of this well-researched weekly journal. In advance of the occasion, some subscriptions have been allocated to institutions already including: The Strivers Network, The BCIS Library, and the Lakmahal Library. If you wish to access subscriptions please fill out the form in this link: The family encourages others to also consider similar means of supporting journalists & journalism that allow them to build their reporting independently. 2. Mangala Would Have Been Viewing Jezima Mohamed’s Exhibition of Batik Art Both Mangala and his mother Khema were fans of Jezima Mohamed, the now 86 year old batik master artist from Matara. Her contemporary work debuted and sold at the recent Ceylon Literary Festival & Matara Festival for the Arts, and this year she will hold a solo exhibition in collaboration with Mangala’s Freedom Hub, the founding initiative behind #MataraForArts. Dates are TBA, but you can follow her work on Instagram @ jezlookbatik & receive first update on the exhibit via @ mataraforarts 3. BIG news: McDonald's is ending a number of woke DEI policies today. Now let me tell you what’s changing and how it happened. 3 days ago I told McDonald’s that I’d be doing a story on woke policies there. Today they’ve announced the following changes: • Hiring: They will END their diversity "goals" for how many of each race they hire. Many (myself included) have referred to these types of "goals" as quotas because these "goals" often operate as quotas that discriminate against white job applicants. • They’ll no longer participate in the HRC’s woke Corporate Equality Index scoring system that forces the trans agenda into the workplace in exchange for a perfect score. They also won’t participate in other 3rd party surveys. • Supplier diversity: They’re ENDING the DEI pledge for their supply chain. That means no diversity quotas or "goals" will exist for how they choose or prioritize suppliers. Focus will now be on merit. • Their diversity team will be "evolving" this year into simply an "inclusion" team. I explain in the video how I feel about this. As our first corporate flip of 2025 I just want to say, HAPPY NEW YEAR! We’ve now changed policy at companies worth well over $2.3 Trillion dollars, with many millions of employees who have better workplace environments as a result. Our campaigns are so effective that we’re getting the biggest companies on earth to change their policies without me even posting a story exposing their woke policies first. Companies can see that America wants sanity back. The era of wokeness is dying right in front of our eyes. The landscape of corporate America is quickly shifting to sanity and neutrality. We are the trend, not the anomaly anymore. We’re winning and one by one we WILL bring sanity back to corporate America. If you love what we’re doing, subscribe to my X page for $5 a month to help fund our growing team! You can also support us by sending any amount once at this link: If you want to expose your woke workplace, send tips at So far you’ve helped me change corporate policy at Walmart, Tractor Supply, John Deere, Harley Davidson, Polaris, Indian Motorcycle, Lowe’s, Ford, Coors, Stanley Black & Decker, Jack Daniels, DeWalt tools, Craftsman, Caterpillar, Boeing, Toyota, Nissan and now MCDONALD’S! We’re a force to be reckoned with and we won’t stop until wokeness is extinct. Like, subscribe and share to make sure everyone knows this is happening so that we keep this movement growing. One of the most under reported catastrophes happened in Pakistan with US’s toppling of PM Imran Khan ‘s democratically elected government in April of 2022 because of his “aggressively neutral” stance on Ukraine war and it continues to date with zero reporting of the aftermath following his removal from the office. The military establishment and their civilian allies have effectively abrogated the constitution, dismantled all democratic norms and have been committing the worst human rights violations — that include forced abductions of Khan’s supporters and party members, assassinations of journalists, media blackouts — Pakistan has ever seen with full support from Washington & its allies in UK & EU. The goal, prevent Khan from ever getting back into office, which he would by all accounts, has resulted in zero focus on governance hence the skyrocketing inflation and energy bills have condemned a country of 240 million people into an unending misery where people are left with no choice but to commit suicides. The country is seeing mass protests and shutdowns against worsening living conditions but there’s not a whiff of it anywhere. During PM Khan’s 3 1/2 years of compassionate governance the country was going through an unprecedented change & prosperity, not experienced before — 6% growth, jobs, exports, universal healthcare. Now Khan’s languishing in a death cell facing about 200 trumped up charges that also include blasphemy, terrorism, sedition & murder. The threatening cable by the Biden regime to Pakistan literally reads — Remove Khan or face international isolation — is very well covered here The Intercept thanks to Murtaza Hussain Ryan Grim who faced malicious attacks from the corporate media touts for outing the evidence of US interference and the subsequent regime change in Pakistan. November 3rd also marks a one year anniversary of the assassination attempt on Khan which failed. The President of Pakistan Dr. Dr. Arif Alvi has given a new date and called for general elections to be held on Thursday February 8 2024, lets respect the will of the people for once. #ReleaseImranKhan #BehindYouSkipper

#Syria: #DuraEuropos offers a spectacular and unique testimony to the collision between 2 Empires in the mid-3rd century. Dura's final moments 👇 The site is located in the N. Abukemal countryside and overlooks the #Euphrates Valley. The Romans had chosen the town to establish their Eastern military HQ as a forward position against the rival Persian Empire. The Roman commander's Palace offered a commanding, breathtaking view over the Euphrates Valley and the lands beyond. The Romans had prior Intelligence the Persians planned to take the town and began work to fortify it. Both sides were experts in urban siege. Dura was already impregnable on 3 sides: 2 overlooked a wadi and the 3rd was built atop a cliff over 40 m high. As a result, only the Western side, opening onto a plateau and the desert, was vulnerable to an assault. Thus, the Romans significantly reinforced the Western urban section with: - an outer mudbrick glacis abutting the rampart to withstand Persian artillery - the demolition of the Roman tower-tombs outside the city, to prevent the Persians from using them as watchtowers - the sacrifice of the entire first row of urban buildings (including the famous Synagogue) to erect a massive earth bank granting quick access to the wall walk. Both the outer glacis and the inner earth berm were also designed to support the rampart on both sides and prevent it from collapsing once the Persian mines began. In 256, the Persian army, led by King Shapur I, began to move to take the town. The King, who mobilized a sizable army, laid siege to the town, blocking the Western side. The Persians first tried conventional tactics, launching assaults on the main gate (see 0:02-0:10), but all attempts to enter the town were defeated by the Romans. Then the Persians began digging mines under the rampart, aiming to make it collapse. But, as seen, the Romans had prepared for this scenario: although the foundations of both the rampart and several towers were damaged by the mines, the double (outer and inner) protection built by the Romans held and prevented the rampart from collapsing. While the rampart cracked (see 0:14) and sank several meters, no breach was created. The Persians also used mines to try to directly enter the town, but the Romans detected them and built their own counter-mines, killing the enemy soldiers in underground battles. As an anecdote, the skeleton of a Persian soldier was found during archaeological excavations conducted in the 20th century. He was buried in a collapsed mine, still wearing his chainmail, along with Roman coins he stole while passing through a tomb during the mining operation. Dura also offers the first documented use in History of the principles of chemical warfare: remains of sulfur dioxide and fire accelerants were found - along with bodies - in some mines, believed to have been used to spread toxic fumes and kill soldiers. After all attempts to break into the town failed, the Persians had no other choice but to begin one of the greatest siege works in History (only surpassed by Masada): the construction of a massive assault ramp, aiming to surpass the height of the rampart (8–9 m). It's believed the Persians forced residents of nearby villages who didn't take shelter in Dura to build it, as the Romans heavily targeted them with artillery and arrows, killing scores. But the construction of the ramp went ahead and the Romans used the Persian technique against them: they dug 2 tunnels from inside the town and mined the assault ramp, causing parts of it to collapse. Yet the Persians had time and manpower on their side and the assault ramp was eventually completed, allowing them to storm the town. The last Roman soldiers of the garrison retreated to the citadel (seen at 1:14), where they resisted until the end. The population of Dura was then deported to the Persian Empire and the town was abandoned, which allowed for an exceptional state of preservation, with some of the most stunning discoveries for this period: papyri, clothes and wall paintings - all preserved thanks to the dry climate. The precise timing of Dura's fall isn't known, but it's believed to have taken about one year. The stubborn resistance of the Roman garrison significantly delayed Shapur I from moving further West, which would culminate with the capture of Antioch in 260, at a time when the Roman Empire faced an acute crisis.
