Remembering Mangala’s 70th ❤️🙏 This year for what would have been late Minister Mangala Samaraweera Mangala Samaraweera ’s 70th Birthday on April 21st, his family are engaging in several initiatives over the course of 2026 that reflect his various interests, 3 of which we are happy to share today: 1. Mangala Would be Reading the The Examiner An avid reader, Mangala was proud to gather a personal library of over 2500 books in his lifetime. And in 2025, the majority of these books were donated to public libraries and institutions around the country. This year, in keeping with that spirit, the Samaraweera family is supporting upto 100 Free 6-Month subscriptions to The Examiner. They believe Mangala would have been a fan & close-reader of this well-researched weekly journal. In advance of the occasion, some subscriptions have been allocated to institutions already including: The Strivers Network, The BCIS Library, and the Lakmahal Library. If you wish to access subscriptions please fill out the form in this link: The family encourages others to also consider similar means of supporting journalists & journalism that allow them to build their reporting independently. 2. SeaSisters, based in Weligama, teaches women and girls how to swim and surf for free, enabling them to claim their right to the ocean, participate in the tourism economy, and advocate for marine conservation and climate resilience. United Nations Headquarters observed the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers, also marking the seventy-fifth anniversary of United Nations Peacekeeping today. About the Dag Hammarskjöld medal The Secretary-General established the Dag Hammarskjöld medal in December 2000 as a posthumous award to members of peacekeeping operations who lost their lives during service with a peacekeeping operation under the operational control and authority of the United Nations. Each year on Peacekeeper's Day, this medal is awarded to any Member State who has lost one or more military or police peacekeepers at a ceremony at UN HQ. CLIP 1 When I talk about this 30th anniversary, I wrote about my feelings in a note for my new album, SHOOTING MY LOVE. Looking back, there have been so many things that have happened since I was a child—when I first started this career and thought of this as such a special kind of life—to now, when that life has become so natural that it feels like breathing, and has come to make up such a big part of who I am. It’s been such a long journey, and I feel like I’ve finally reached a really wonderful moment in my life. For my 30th anniversary, I feel like I’ve reached a time when I can do something special—not just something I want to do on my own, but something that you can all enjoy and celebrate together with me. It feels like I’ve arrived at a future that is even better than the one I imagined when I was young… Actually, I have to sing after this, so I can’t cry. Really. If I cry, my throat will close up. That’s why, even while watching the congratulatory video earlier, I was trying my best to hold back my emotions, thinking that I could always watch it by myself later. I’m so grateful that I’ve arrived at a future that is even better than the one I imagined as a child. I honestly never imagined this. When I had my very first fan meeting, the ‘Binkan Tour,’ I only sang three songs. I truly never imagined that, just a few years later, I would be here celebrating a day like this in the form of a concert. And I never acted with the expectation of receiving awards. The things I once thought would happen ‘someday’ have been given to me in a way that is far more wonderful than the future I had imagined. So, right now, I’m just incredibly grateful. CLIP 2 I sincerely want to thank everyone who stayed until the very end and shared this time with me. Even though there were so many other performances happening over the weekend, and even though a fireworks festival was drawing a crowd of one million people, you still chose to come and see me. Thank you for making the time for me. And thank you as well to everyone watching this video. How long will I be able to continue being together with BINGOs? When we started BINGO 1st generation, I began it with such a happy heart. But around the time of the 3rd generation, I found myself wondering quite often, ‘How long will I be able to continue this?’ And when we were preparing for BINGO 4th generation this time, I also honestly wondered, ‘When would be the right time for all of us to say goodbye while we’re still happy together?’ Because, you know, I’m getting older, day by day and year by year. Even so, I want to tell all of you how incredibly grateful I am for the love you always send my way. Thinking of all of you, whenever I felt myself becoming a little complacent, I wanted to make sure I would never feel ashamed in front of you. So I pushed myself even harder. That was the kind of year I had, with those moments continuing day after day. I’ve always worked hard, but this year, as I celebrated my 30th anniversary, I was especially grateful to be able to share two projects with you because you wanted to celebrate this milestone with me. And I’ll continue preparing and working hard throughout the rest of this year so that I can share two projects with you next year as well. This universe that we created together, this world called ‘Euniverse’—that may be how this fan concert got its title, but my world will continue to expand. I hope you’ll continue dreaming that dream with me. Nothing more and nothing less—I just hope you’ll keep the same feelings you have now for a long, long time. And finally, Mom, Dad, and Oppa, thank you. BIG news: McDonald's is ending a number of woke DEI policies today. Now let me tell you what’s changing and how it happened. 3 days ago I told McDonald’s that I’d be doing a story on woke policies there. Today they’ve announced the following changes: • Hiring: They will END their diversity "goals" for how many of each race they hire. Many (myself included) have referred to these types of "goals" as quotas because these "goals" often operate as quotas that discriminate against white job applicants. • They’ll no longer participate in the HRC’s woke Corporate Equality Index scoring system that forces the trans agenda into the workplace in exchange for a perfect score. They also won’t participate in other 3rd party surveys. • Supplier diversity: They’re ENDING the DEI pledge for their supply chain. That means no diversity quotas or "goals" will exist for how they choose or prioritize suppliers. Focus will now be on merit. • Their diversity team will be "evolving" this year into simply an "inclusion" team. I explain in the video how I feel about this. As our first corporate flip of 2025 I just want to say, HAPPY NEW YEAR! We’ve now changed policy at companies worth well over $2.3 Trillion dollars, with many millions of employees who have better workplace environments as a result. Our campaigns are so effective that we’re getting the biggest companies on earth to change their policies without me even posting a story exposing their woke policies first. BIG news: McDonald's is ending a number of woke DEI policies today. Now let me tell you what’s changing and how it happened. 3 days ago I told McDonald’s that I’d be doing a story on woke policies there. Today they’ve announced the following changes: • Hiring: They will END their diversity "goals" for how many of each race they hire. Many (myself included) have referred to these types of "goals" as quotas because these "goals" often operate as quotas that discriminate against white job applicants. • They’ll no longer participate in the HRC’s woke Corporate Equality Index scoring system that forces the trans agenda into the workplace in exchange for a perfect score. They also won’t participate in other 3rd party surveys. • Supplier diversity: They’re ENDING the DEI pledge for their supply chain. That means no diversity quotas or "goals" will exist for how they choose or prioritize suppliers. Focus will now be on merit. • Their diversity team will be "evolving" this year into simply an "inclusion" team. I explain in the video how I feel about this. One of the most under reported catastrophes happened in Pakistan with US’s toppling of PM Imran Khan ‘s democratically elected government in April of 2022 because of his “aggressively neutral” stance on Ukraine war and it continues to date with zero reporting of the aftermath following his removal from the office. The military establishment and their civilian allies have effectively abrogated the constitution, dismantled all democratic norms and have been committing the worst human rights violations — that include forced abductions of Khan’s supporters and party members, assassinations of journalists, media blackouts — Pakistan has ever seen with full support from Washington & its allies in UK & EU. The goal, prevent Khan from ever getting back into office, which he would by all accounts, has resulted in zero focus on governance hence the skyrocketing inflation and energy bills have condemned a country of 240 million people into an unending misery where people are left with no choice but to commit suicides. The country is seeing mass protests and shutdowns against worsening living conditions but there’s not a whiff of it anywhere. During PM Khan’s 3 1/2 years of compassionate governance the country was going through an unprecedented change & prosperity, not experienced before — 6% growth, jobs, exports, universal healthcare. Now Khan’s languishing in a death cell facing about 200 trumped up charges that also include blasphemy, terrorism, sedition & murder. The threatening cable by the Biden regime to Pakistan literally reads — Remove Khan or face international isolation — is very well covered here The Intercept thanks to Murtaza Hussain Ryan Grim who faced malicious attacks from the corporate media touts for outing the evidence of US interference and the subsequent regime change in Pakistan.
