Who pays the nodes? Search is the one thing crypto never got right because the index has to stay fresh and nobody wants to fund crawling.

Imagine a video search engine that has Rumble videos which are/were typically censored on other platforms. Rumble has transcripts for many videos now, which could be used to improve the search results.

A full archive replicated across nodes and still searchable? I'd use on its own, whether or not the general search engine ever ships.

Amazing work. The full range of the tether ecosystem is highly underrated and misunderstood IMO. The mission can be seen clearly if you #lookdeeper.

Censorship resistance is the archive on peers, not a search box on a CDN. If the index still needs a gateway account, someone still has the switch.

Fantastic idea. If DHT-based indexing scales like this on Wikipedia, it opens the door to major developments for censorship-resistant search.

This is the fastest growing distributed peer-to-peer network since Uber. Almost 90,000 nodes connected currently, out of ~350k nodes ever registered (spanning almost 5000 cities around the world), including in Mongolia! $0 spent on marketing 🤷‍♂️

Mark Zuckerberg to new-hire Aditya Agarwal : “If I can build Facebook you can build a search engine” Aditya recalls starting at Facebook in 2005. A few weeks into his new role, Mark Zuckerberg comes up to him and suggests he build a search engine: “When people come to Facebook, the first thing they want to do is search for people.” Aditya’s first reaction was that search was a really important thing to get right and he had never built a search engine - wouldn’t it make more sense to just hire somebody from Google or Yahoo to do it? Mark replied: “If I can build Facebook, you can build a search engine.” And he was right - Aditya did end up building search for Facebook. This interaction also left a lasting impression on Aditya: “All of us can build whatever we put our minds to. And this is the culture that for me still defines Facebook - there is this hacker, can-do, total-ownership culture. If I could tell every startup in the world to take one thing, it would be you can do whatever you want as long as you put your mind to it. It’s probably easier than you think.” Video source: (2024)

Today we announced the new Einstein Copilot Search and Salesforce Vector Database in Data Cloud to power semantic search and retrieval augmented generation. This will enhance Einstein Copilot's ability to understand, generate outputs, and automate actions across a wide variety of use cases, contexts, and data/content types. LLMs can't be relied on to recall specific data they were trained on, so the way to make them work in the enterprise, where accuracy is paramount, is to feed them with the right data using hybrid keyword and vector search-powered RAG. By bringing all this seamlessly into our apps and Einstein Copilot UX as well as Hyperforce cloud infrastructure, we can offer high performance, low latency, addressing data privacy, security, and residency requirements🌟

Infrastructure defines what scales. Electricity enabled industry. The internet enabled software. Now AI is moving toward systems that run continuously, across data, execution, and feedback. 💡At OptimAI, we’re building that infrastructure. A decentralized search layer for real-time data. A network of nodes powering continuous retrieval and validation. Agents that execute tasks directly on your device. This is not theoretical - we’re already seeing it in production, with millions of nodes and growing usage across the network. We’re putting together a short documentary to show how this shift is happening, and where it leads next. If you’re building, exploring, or just getting started - this is the layer to pay attention to. Welcome to OptimAI.

I can search a database with 32 million records in less than 50 milliseconds. This speed is insane! There's no reason your search is slow. There's no reason you aren't using this library when building applications with a lot of data. Take a look at typesense |. It's an open-source search engine. It's crazy fast and easy to use. They are sponsoring this post. Here is their GitHub repository: You can use the library in Python, JavaScript, PHP, Ruby, Swift, and pretty much any other programming language out there. Here are some of the things you can do with Typesense: • Vector search over embeddings • Conversational search for RAG applications • Image similarity search • Voice search And it does all of this extremely fast. A few interesting notes about the library: • Optimized for developer happiness • Works out of the box for most use cases • Very intuitive API • Easy to deploy and scale Probably the best way to compare them is against ElasticSearch. The latter is much more complex to configure and run with a steep learning curve. Check their GitHub repository. They have examples, tutorials, and everything you need.

ICP's Cloud Engines Will Keep Apps Running Effectively Internet Computer (@dfiinity) recently shared a quick overview detailing how Cloud Engines work... This new feature promises to provide serverless, fail-proof computational power for global enterprise applications. Users can select between 4 and 100 high-performance nodes across any continent, ensuring that $ICP apps remain operational even if a single node fails. Funding is streamlined through direct USD-to-cycle conversion via the Network Nervous System, removing all traditional infrastructure overhead and server management. Basically, here is how it works: - Users select Nodes. - Fund Engine. - Deploy apps.
