If God is not in control of this completely, then how and when will He get the knowledge and the power to get it under control? And I would ask you this: would you rather have a God trying to get control of evil, or a God completely in control of it? Take your choice. But the God of the Bible is in complete control of evil for His own purposes. It is really heresy to say that the world is full of evil apart from a predetermined plan and purpose by God that is far above the willy-nilly choices of people. So, what do we know up to now? We are commanded to know our enemy and know what he is doing in this evil world. The truth is, this world has always belonged to the devil. That’s the biggest mistake we’ve made, pretending otherwise. We’ve lived in denial for millennia, but Scripture makes it clear: when the devil tempted Jesus in the desert, he offered Him the kingdoms of this world, he could only offer what was his to give. And notice how Jesus did not correct him, He did not say, “These kingdoms are not yours.” because Jesus knew who owned the world. The devil’s greatest trick is not convincing you to follow him, but erasing God so completely that you never notice whose kingdom you are in. Remember, the kingdom of God is within us, not outside of us. We need to get past the cognitive dissonance of not wanting to accept this truth, for only when we see it clearly can we stand a chance of fighting evil. The way out is not through the mundane spectacle of politics, the only way out is spiritually. In our natural state we are free to choose what we want — but what we want is to sin. 1 Cor 2:14 The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. Other than Jesus, no one has ever freely chosen not to sin. It is not possible, because man wants to sin — and we always choose according to our strongest desire. Only a sovereign act of God can set a person free from sin's bondage. Rom 6:17-18 But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed, and, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness. RC Sproul nails it here: “(Your will) is free from coercion, but what it’s not free from is you.” We sin because we want to sin — not because we are forced to.

Hey there, folks. About to go for a run here in Connecticut, and I realized today is the National Day of Prayer. I just want to say how glorious it is that we live in a country with a National Day of Prayer. It’s on our coins: “In God We Trust.” We have to understand that faith in the God of the Bible is central to who we are as a nation. It always has been. I write about that in the book Revolution. Next weekend, on May 17th, we are publicly rededicating the nation to God. I’ll be there, and I hope you will too. On this National Day of Prayer, take a moment to thank God that we live in a nation that acknowledges Him in this way. God bless you, and God bless America.

BROKENNESS IS NOT WEAKNESS: DON’T BE TOO PROUD TO REPENT The finished work of Christ is complete, but it must be appropriated through the systems God has provided. The blood of Jesus Christ has brought us eternal redemption, but we must engage this reality with understanding. Scripture teaches us that if we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. There is a subtle narrative that has been sold to many Believers, that there is no need to own up, open your heart, and cry for mercy. But repentance is not a denial of the finished work of Christ; repentance is an appropriation system. It makes active in your life today that which Christ has already finished. The work of the Cross is a reality, but it must be personally received and appropriated. When God finds repentance, brokenness, and sincerity of heart, He responds. So, do not wrestle with the Spirit for too long when He is calling you to brokenness. Do not be embarrassed when God points out an area of your life that requires correction or adjustment. Learn to be malleable in His presence.
