I'm imagining the ride share to the great beyond with David Jolicoeur/Trugoy, Burt Bacharach and Eric J. Lawrence. EJL would find lots to discuss with both of them. 😀

Happy birthday to Posdnuos, born on this day in 1969 — MC, producer, and co-founder of the legendary De La Soul. Known for his clever wordplay, smooth flow, and socially conscious rhymes, Pos helped reshape hip-hop in the late ’80s and ’90s with 3 Feet High and Rising, De La Soul Is Dead, and beyond. Part of the Native Tongues collective, his artistry proved rap could be playful, poetic, and profound — all at once. A true pioneer who kept it real and pushed the culture forward.

Happy birthday to Trugoy the Dove, born on this day in 1968! A hip-hop visionary whose love for soulful, funky rhymes blossomed in Long Island’s Amityville scene, he co-founded De La Soul with high school pals, igniting the Daisy Age with playful, eclectic vibes on 3 Feet High and Rising (1989). His witty flows and innovative sampling on tracks like “Me Myself and I” revolutionized alternative rap, earning Native Tongues cred and timeless influence.

A clip from the classic Nas & De La Soul freestyle session on the Radio 1 Rap Show in ‘96. Had this taped and played it to death. Loved Nas’s Princess Di reference and it was mad hearing Pos hating on his own single 😂 Whole freestyle in the comments, featuring Plug 2 #ripdave

David Jude Jolicoeur aka Dave the Dove aka Trugoy aka Plug 2 (September 21st, 1968 - February 12th, 2023) blended humor, heart, and wisdom with a wit that could make you laugh and think in the same bar. he wasn’t just an MC: he was a storyteller, a philosopher, and a vibe curator. De La’s catalog is a masterclass in innovation, and Dave’s spirit was at the core of that legacy.

Success on the 'nuts and bolts' of the target set is one thing—securing enriched uranium and reopening global shipping lanes is another. My take from this morning’s CNN appearance on where the mission in Iran stands and what objectives still remain out of reach.
