Zimbabwe is an increasingly important market for PPC, with rising cement demand helping offset slower growth in SA and Botswana. In the year to March, PPC Zimbabwe’s sales volumes rose 18%. Volumes were up 25% in the first half. Growth was 12% in the second half, after a gearbox breakdown at the Bulawayo plant slowed sales in the region for two months. Revenue rose 20.5% to US$206 million, and earnings hit a record US$56 million. There are a few other apartment buildings & hotels that are "green," including the ParkRoyal Pickering in Singapore has 50+ plant varieties (incl veggies used at the restaurants) for air filtration, rainwater harvesting, 3M filtered water in the bathrooms to eliminate the need for water bottles, & solar panels.

As bad as this is, it is probably about one eighth of what was lost at Medupi for 3 to 4 years when Unit 4 had the hydrogen explosion, and about one sixth of what was lost for more than a decade (and I assume permanently) after the Duvha boiler explosion.
