Golf has had a torpedo bat problem for 30 years, the issue is very few influential people have spoken out about it over the years the way so many baseball folks have in one week.

The game of golf is way, way more important than the equipment manufacturers. Rollback the equipment now and roll it back a lot! ⛳️🙂 PS: Nice rant. Don’t hold back now, say what you really think!👌🤣 @rollbackgolf

Going into my senior year of high school, they changed the baseball bat rules to move from BESR to BBCOR, effectively having balls come off more akin to a wood bat. The best hitters on our team hit *more HRs while others struggled. Actually rewarded guys who could barrel the ball

The difference is the average person doesn’t play baseball after the age of 18. Easy to get vocal when the equipment only effects the professionals.

Because people that watch golf play golf so they’re in on the heist. Baseball fans don’t play and hate to see the game change more.

Right on the money here!! Titleist and other OEM’s have been no friend to the game of golf and to the great old golf courses that make the game special. @mikeclaytongolf @bhughesgolf @GolfClubAtlas @NoLayingUp

Not a thing no matter how bad you guys wanna play old courses

...If only I were more influential... (In addition to rolling back drivers/woods/hybrids/"rescues", I'm also the ONLY Cassandra/Jeremiah figure shouting at the Ruling/Governing Bodies to ban cavity-back irons/wedges in pro & "elite amateur" golf. --The fact that pros are allowed

Golf’s governing bodies lost control of the equipment debate when Karsten Solhiem (Ping) went to court with the USGA regarding square grooves. The manufacturers have more money to litigate than the USGA, so now we have huge heads, jacked up balls and spring effect faces. A long time ago they outlawed the reflex iron who’s face rebounded but today’s clubs have way more flex in them. Baseball is controlled by the ruling body and thats why they still play with wood. I’d love to see pro golfers go back to wood for an event. Many top pros during that transition claimed they lost their advantage of being a skilled driver of the ball. Yet, at the same time, in an individual sport .. the cream rises to the top. Not sure how this would really effect baseball other than bringing mediocre players up a notch..

Golf has an ICBM drivers problem
