Just a bullsnake... They do bite, but they're non-venomous and basically harmless. They are released on golf courses in the the southwest to kill rattlesnakes, so toss him a snack out of your bag to thank him, and hit the fkn ball already

It’s a good practice to know your snakes. This one is a harmless Gopher Snake. They will make a lot of hissing sounds, or even imitate a rattle, but they don’t have a rattle and are nonvenomous.
