After a certain Customs checkpoint, more than 60 cars parked at a particular spot were noticeable. Elsewhere, at a filling station, more than 50 cars with rice were also spotted. Police, Customs, and military personnel clashed in Bawku yesterday, with several warning shots fired over a misunderstanding regarding a Kia Rhino truck suspected of illegally transporting cocoa to a neighboring country. According to information obtained from key sources by EDHUB, officers from the Ghana Police arrested a Kia Rhino truck after it managed to beat some security barriers while heading toward the border. The police officers were transporting the vehicle to their station under the instruction of their commander when they were intercepted by Customs officers, who insisted on taking over the vehicle and sending it to Pulmakom. The police officers maintained that they could not release the vehicle to the Customs officers, as they were only following orders from their commander. This sparked a misunderstanding between the two security teams, prompting the Customs officer to call for assistance from the military in Pulmakom, while the police also requested backup from other units. According to reliable security sources, tempers flared up after some police officers refused to allow their counterparts from Customs to inspect the content of a truck moving into neighbouring Togo. Can you now see why I’ve repeatedly said all those publicly-announced seizures are goods belonging to smugglers who didn’t pay the right people in Customs? Specifically, these chicken and turkey cartons smuggled to Lagos overnight were loaded onto Toyota Avalon vehicles at Ohunbe and driven to Papa, for onward movement into Lagos. The cartons are ‘just’ 600 because of the discreetness necessitated by my recent writings; just two months ago, this would have been up to 10,000 bags per day. Anyway, Nigerians like to know: when will you stop misleading the public with PR and propaganda, bandying humongous IGR figures about, when the biggest smugglers are in cahoots with your most senior officers?

Customs, IGI Airport Date: 23.02.2026 Operation: AIU, IGI Airport, New Delhi Seizure: 23936 grams ganja/marijuana The Customs Officers at Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi, have seized 23.936 kilograms of green-coloured narcotic substance suspected to be Ganja/Marijuana from two Indian passengers arriving from Krabi. Both passengers arrived at Terminal-3 on 22.02.2026 by Flight No. 6E-1070 from Krabi. Based on profiling, they were intercepted at the Green Channel and their baggage was subjected to X-ray screening and detailed examination. During the search, Customs officers recovered a total of 14 polythene pouches containing the suspected narcotic substance — 08 packets concealed in a grey and yellow trolley bag and 06 packets concealed in a dark green and white trolley bag. The recovered substance weighed 23,936 grams (net weight). Preliminary diagnostic testing indicated the substance to be Ganja/Marijuana. The estimated value of the seized narcotics in the illicit market is approximately ₹23.936 crore. The passengers have been arrested under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. The seized contraband and packing materials have been taken into custody. On 13.05.2026, Customs officers at IGI Airport, New Delhi intercepted two Indian male passengers arriving from Jeddah by flight no. SV-756 and Doha by flight no. 6E-1308 after they crossed the Green Channel. During detailed examination, Customs officers unearthed an ingenious modus operandi wherein water bottles had been specially modified with fake bottoms concealing circular pieces of raw gold coated with silver colour and meticulously crafted to fit inside, making detection extremely difficult during routine checks. The alertness and professional acumen of Customs officers led to recovery and seizure of 233.5 grams and 117 grams of gold respectively. NEW: Footage released shows multiple men fleeing the scene after crashing a car believed to be owned by Chiefs receiver Rashee Rice Police say a Corvette & Lamborghini caused a 6-car accident during a street race. New information suggests the men may have fled the scene because they had weapons in the car. Dallas News claims the men were taking “guns and bags from the vehicles” before fleeing. This message by the MD/CE Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria Mrs Olubunmi Kuku is an important one. I can feel her frustrations; even from this video. I really do hope it does help to make some change happen. That said, even if these officials behave, even without the begging and soliciting, nothing will ever make seeing 18 officials in uniforms of many colours welcoming for even Nigerians returning home, let alone new visitors to Nigeria. I know this bit is beyond the FAAN. 1. NDLEA should have no business with searches or questioning of passengers. I should have no business seeing an NDLEA official except my luggage triggers their interest. Then, AVSEC can hand the passenger over to NDLEA. NDLEA can be at the airport but to be seen by a passenger means that passenger is already in trouble. 2. Customs should have limited role. This is on the back of the ruling Dr Joe Abah, OON just tweeted. It means Customs should only be required to deal with passengers who bring goods that require their attention. My small luggage should not have to be opened by customs officials ALL the time. It’s a waste of national resources and a waste of passengers’ time. 3. After the scanners, when leaving Nigeria, passengers have no business with any official except their luggage triggered a need. That means all the NDLEA, Customs and whatever else others waiting to ask pointless questions right after the scanner, they should be posted where they can do actual jobs and not the make-belief consular one. 4. DSS have no business with documenting passports in or out. Leave that to Immigration. DSS and Immigration already exchange data. That process must become robust enough to keep DSS away from arriving and departing passengers. Again, except when needed. 5. Arriving passengers should only be engaged based on suspicion. The current practise of engaging EVERY arriving passenger and asking that they open their luggage is anachronistic and frankly speaking, barbaric. I can imagine the sort of headache someone who heads the FAAN will have just wishing to deliver an airport with world class experience or at least a respectable one. However, it’s quite clear than they do not have as much control over the airport as they ought to. The “Authority” in their name is only as far as the FG helps to organise this system to serve Nigeria and its visitors. The airports have a design problem that requires big paradigm shifting solutions from above. All the best to everyone, like Mrs Kuku, doing their best with the design they have been handed.

Families living in Ghadio say the Taliban distributed aid to their people in their name and they received it in a Ranger: “There was beating, swearing, insults and harassment.” Ten bags of flour, ten bags of oil and ten bags of rice were taken away together.
