Communication goes a long way. Communicate the car to the neighbors BEFORE you go on vacation. Simple and effective.

How is she so sure the lady called the tow truck? Cops easily could have seen it there day after day and had it towed. Or another neighbor could have called it.

In our neighborhood (actually our city) cars have to be moved every 72 hours or they can be reported and towed. In practice that of course means once reported they will be marked and towed 72 hours after that. Putting a car in front of someone elses house for 6 days is storing it...sorry. We have visitors, lawn service, etc and they need a place to park. Cannot realistically ask your lawn service to park down the street because someone who lives around the corner is storing a car in front of your house because it is more convenient to them or they don'tmwant a car in front of their house.

The police are typically start a 24 hr check. We did anyway. You note the position of the valve stems, and record the mileage if possible. Come back 24 hours later and if it’s still there, you issue a citation and a 24 hour parking notice. Then you make reasonable attempts to locate the owner. If it’s still there after another 24 hours, then the vehicle gets towed. That lady is getting jackshit if they tried to sue, LOL…
