As someone who’s been in the fandom since 2016. It honestly might be for the better that new gen’s didn’t experience this. The horrors.

I binged like five entire years of Undertale fan content when I got into it in 2020. Does that count?

It was something else I think how Protendo described it is accurate. The reason we miss it is because of its sincerity. It was cringe, but it was real. Unfiltered. The truly expression of kids and teens learning to create and embrace their weird side.

the great undertale boom was a great time to be in my mid-twenties.

I have vague memories of the 2017-2019 era and yeah, it was crazy. I remember hopping on the Sans fangirl bandwagon as a joke once and I kept misspelling his name as "sams" (I was a really dumb kid back then tbh)
