It happens, but the Moon is much closer, which is why we can see it. Venus and Mercury eclipses happen, but because they’re so far away, they appear as tiny black dots, and are near impossible to see without a telescope. Next Venus eclipse: 2117; setting my clock now.

Size and distance. Only the moon is able to eclipse the sun because of its large proximity to the earth. Mars is much farther away making it very small in proximity of the sun

I watched Venus “transit” the sun in 2012 and is was a small dot barely visible against the sun backdrop. I had to look through welders goggles to even see it happen.

He can't actually be that dumb? The reason we don't want you to ask that question is because it is cringe-inducingly embarassing to ask something that stupid. It hurts hear it. It's like watching an adult struggle with basic addition or when my aunt mispronounces 'quesadilla'.

We do, but because they are so far away, they don't block the Sun fully. It's called a Transit. If you know when they're going to happen, and you have the right filter on your telescope, you can watch them for yourself. The next transit of Mercury, will be November 13th, 2032.
