One of the greatest storytellers. Sundown, the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.

The best.

And you won't read that book again Because the ending's just too hard to take

100%

I got to see him in the early 2000’s and from the 2nd row. It was AWESOME.

Amazing

But he died in May 2023

some enlightening quotes about Gordon Lightfoot: "Lightfoot became a mentor for a long time. I think he probably still is to this day." - Bob Dylan “I can't think of any Gordon Lightfoot song I don't like. Every time I hear a song of his, it's like I wish it would last forever. " - Bob Dylan "Favourite Lightfoot songs? Shadows, Sundown, If You Could Read My Mind. I can't think of any I don't like!" - Bob Dylan "Gordon Lightfoot has created some of the most beautiful and lasting music of our time. He is Bob Dylan's favourite singer/songwriter - high praise from the best of us, applauded by the rest of us." - Kris Kristofferson "I've always been trying to write songs like Lightfoot. A song of mine like 'Come Monday' is a direct result of me trying to write a Gordon Lightfoot song." - Jimmy Buffett "I always knew Gordon Lightfoot was a really great songwriter, but his stuff even sounds better and better all the time. It's just so really good to me. It's just like that's what should be in a dictionary, you know, next to a really good contempory folk song, is a Gordon Lightfoot song." - John Prine

I saw him 4 times. Unrivaled talent. This is my favorite tune of his. 'You can't jump a jet plane, like you can a freight train...'

One of my father’s favorite singers. I lost him 27 years ago. I’m now his age when he died. This song hits hard. Miss you dad.

His song “Beautiful” was my wedding song

What a brilliant and unique voice he had. Thanks for posting this!

“I'd walk away like a movie star Who gets burned in a three-way script Enter number two A movie queen to play the scene Of bringing all the good things out in me But for now love, let's be real I never thought I could act this way” Lyrically an incredible song.

Goodnight AA…sweet dreams…🩷💤🙏 RIP GL…

Thx Chris

He died in 2023

Yes, I am just showing respect

Ok

He died 2 years ago…

Just like singing Poetry.. 🙌🏻 Legend

This brings back so many thoughts and dreams of being a child. RIP.

One of my all time absolute favorite poets, singers, songwriters, storytellers…there was only one Gordon Lightfoot.

A Canadian treasure and a good friend to the USA 🇺🇸

Good Night have good sleep 💤🌙👌👋

You too

Play Gordon Lightfoot, we just did, play another one!

Legend. Amazing singer/songwriter. Thanks.

I miss Gordon Lightfoot. Underrated talent.

He was tremendous, truly a poet

Oh gosh. 😩😩😩😩. Saw him a few years ago. I think he was 81 at the time. Voice not as strong but still amazing. RIP.

He made some great 70's music, He is played a lot on the XM 70's channel

🙏

Thank you for posting this. It’s timely because the wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald is less than 20 miles away from me as I sit here on my deck lakeside.

He sang such great songs.

He passed 5/1/23. Why are you posting this now? Just curious

I like how he shares the applause with the band. Absolute gentleman.

His voice was so soothing

a master at his craft.

Gordon Lightfoot passed away in May of 2023 .

He looks so frail there; it made me teary. I saw him here in an outdoor concert in 1993 or 95, it was storming and the audience stayed there, drenched. The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald was very realistic! I'll always love him and his wonderful giftd.

Second best breakup song ever written. Yes, RIP GL.
