added this bit of trivia about the song “Wildfire” “Michael Martin Murphey and Larry Cansler were inspired to write “Wildfire” after Murphey dreamed the song in its entirety. At the time, the two were working long hours on Kenny Rogers’ concept album The Ballad of Calico. “Murphey, sleeping on the floor of Cansler’s apartment, woke up from a vivid dream and immediately asked Cansler to help him develop the song. They completed it in just a few hours with the help of coffee provided by Cansler’s wife. “Murphey later attributed the song’s imagery to a story his grandfather told him about a Native American legend involving a ghost horse. This blend of dreamlike inspiration and folklore shaped the haunting narrative of “Wildfire”
