This is just projection mapping with a point cloud. Hollywood has been using this technique for years. I guess the AI could speed up the process though.

not quite, i think it originates in the novel "neuromancer" from 1984. it's called simstim there. there is also a movie strange days that plays around with the concept from 1995. good movie.
