Google Genie 3 just got its biggest open-source rival 🤯 LingBot-World is an open-source world model that generates playable environments in real-time. → Built on Alibaba’s Wan2.2 → 10 minutes of stable generation → 16fps real-time interaction 100% Open Source.

Three major features of this model: 1. High-Fidelity Simulation & Precise Control 2. Pixel-precise control over characters, cameras, and environments 3. Understands real-world physics

100% Slop

I'm tired to having to test all of the tools being released every week

1) lingbot doesn't run on consumer hardware, nor does it achieve 10 minutes of context 2) it's actually closer to 2 fps because of temporal up scaling, waypoint-1 is actually low latency 3) you can't give it mouse input

Open source is the way — closed AI dies the moment someone hits "git clone".

How much VRAM to run? 🥵 These models might just kill Veo and Sora end of this year. And then they add co-op mode and then multiplayer And then we have the simulation

"The high inference cost currently necessitates enterprise-grade GPUs, making the technology inaccessible on consumer hardware."

@grok how much vram to run this?

This thing is B.S. I have a 4090 on my PC. I downloaded it. First, this released version doesn't let you do anything. It just generates a video. Second, it take over half an hour just to load the model and then I have no idea how long it would take to generate but really long time. So long I found out in the documentation it doesn't let you control the cam. You can predescribe camera movement and that is all. However, fast forward a year and yeah, we may have something decent. Think they got ahead of themselves to release something since Genie 3 released.

in 5 years everyone will able to make their own game easily.

16fps real-time interaction is impressive but watch the environmental lighting consistency. that's where open-source models expose themselves and are worthless. commercial models have better lighting physics training datasets.

Genie 3 has 24FPS! That is a huge difference!

@JasonBotterill

8x40Gb and 10min for a 10s clip according to some users

Who gives a flying fuck? All of this is just a toy and it’s useless mostly

This is why I don't worry about progress, or corporations gatekeeping or jacking prices up. Way to go, open source. Love to see it. This may still be in its infancy... but just think back to Will Smith spaghetti, and how far image/video gen has come. Give this another 2-3 years.
Ya. 16fps is fun

And what's the objective of the game, something to achieve or you don't know what an objective is?

Imagine the feedback you can implant in interface devices like a BCI(brain to computer interface) or live modification of other buttons that do macros based on the situation in the rendered piece

The jump from PlayStation 5 to PlayStation 6 is going to look like we jumped from PS5 to PS10.

This looks just as good as genie, impressive👀👀

Oh yes, open-source slop

so cool all the incredible "meta" worlds other than made by $META. Zuck gotta be so jealous.

No story, no npc, no music, nothing... Boring as walking alone in a desert.

LingBot-World looks unreal… until you see the footnote: ≥ 320 GB VRAM for 720p/10min 💀

would you prefer this one over Genie 3? I haven't tried none yet

Tech like this could make a cool Doctor Strange experience because in the that world nothing has to be persistent.

@CryptoGarga plug this into the infra of otherside: boom environments that used to take months to create now under a minute

Genie shows what’s possible at the frontier. Open rivals determine how fast the ideas actually spread.

Open-source world models are moving fast. Hitting ~16fps interactive generation is a big deal. Curious what the eval harness looks like for long-horizon consistency + controllability, and whether there’s a seedable API so sims are reproducible across runs?

that's a powerful tool to do previs.

It looks horrible

This still requires an account / subscription to Alibaba’s Wan2.2, no?

wild to think a few months ago this was all theory now we got full realtime sims happening open source is moving insane speed

10 minutes of stable generation vs genie's 60 seconds is a massive gap. the real question is whether open source world models follow the same trajectory as image generation, where community fine tuning ended up beating closed models within months. if lingbot gets the same community attention that stable diffusion did, google's lead evaporates fast.
