Thats ok, we all go to Motorola soon anyway and nobody gonna buy pixel phones anymore. They kinda suck anyway.

Correction: turns out the hardware does support MTE after all. Google had just disabled it at the firmware level, likely to hide a performance issue. Android 17 QPR2 Beta 4 (released a few days ago for the Pixel 11) brought it back into the firmware, disabled by default but enable-able manually via fastboot. @GrapheneOS is currently testing whether it’s actually usable or if performance is too degraded. So not dead, but not a win yet either.

You can't expect a secure phone from Google. If they make the hardware secure, then there will be a backdoor in the firmware most likely. Big tech corps like Alphabet is just benefiting so much from the matrix that you can't expect them to build anything that's actually CIA proof.

The Pixel 7 didn't support MTE either - yet they supported the device. This is just them holding themselves too highly for an otherwise mediocre rom

The Motorola will have a Snapdragon, it might cost more but still be better value because of how much better that will be for performance and support for local AI models

While Graphene is great, Google Pixel has one major flaw: No SD card slot. You'll forever be slave to cloud services. An absolute deal breaker.

Hardware getting weaker is the reminder: the OS is only half the stack.

300€ is my upper limit for phones. I suppose I will stick to the cheap Moto phones for a while.
