google's notebookLM charges $19.99/mo for pro. this open-source alternative gives you unlimited access for $0. zero subscription. runs locally. MIT licensed. features: → podcast generation → multi-modal ingestion → up to 6 languages → universal LLM selection github repo link in the comments.

notebooklm is great until you see the open source version doing the same thing for free on your own machine

The 100% alternative

im starting to love open source more and more

it’s not just open source, it’s free

Good one

free and local is great, but a podcast of your notes is still passive intake. you can listen to a generated deep-dive for an hour and recall almost none of it on exam day. what sticks is being quizzed, not narrated at. written with ai

I Love you Moh, I know your mum and dad is proud of you for providing me with what my secondary school couldn't Do. I'm grateful To God, X, Nikita and every profile that led me to following Moh😪

my laptop fan is about to fight for its life running this

Just hearing about this one

It's not just about saving on subscription fees, it's also about not losing all your data to the cloud. notebookLM is strong on organizing data and generating podcasts, so if the open source experience is solid enough, it's really worth a try.

dropping subscriptions for local setups is a massive win

Free.99 > $19.99

I don't see a link from the GitHub. What is the name of this app or can you add the link again

this is it:

Thank you

open-source wins again. the fact that you get podcast generation, multi-modal ingestion, and LLM flexibility for $0 vs $20/mo is the whole argument right there. notebookLM is great but paying for it when this exists makes no sense

That's an awesome deal! It's great to see powerful tools become more accessible. Thanks for sharing!

Cadê o link?

good tek for literally $0
