Right! I remember Neil mentioning that in the commentary for TLOU2. When Ellie's sitting in her room (or the garage technically) and draws the deer right when Joel enters and she listens to Through the Valley.

Wow, first time watching this again since it first dropped, and I just realized that this was a foreshadowing all along, the way his body just appears out of thin air, and the context we have now with what happens to him, he was really never there, we got trolled so bad🥹

When I originally saw this trailer, I knew Joel was either dead or going to die in this game. That it was most likely going to be the inciting incident for the whole plot. When I voiced this people said I was insane and stupid and I hated the game. I laughed when it happened.

Covid ruined a lot to be fair, but I understand what you're saying. I wasn't around then, like I didn't even know what TLOU was, so I wonder what it felt like for people waiting 7 years between TLOU1 and TLOU2. I plaued both games in 2024 for the first time.
