Gorrillaz at Glastonbury 2010. It's a much maligned set, not sure why, it just didn't connect with a lot of people. Maybe too many guests, maybe the expectations after Blur in 2009, who knows? But it was my first Pyramid headliner & I had a great time. This was... show more

It’s the only time I’ve walked away from a Pyramid headliner mid-set. Really disappointing because I’ve always loved Gorillaz but it just didn’t connect; it felt like standing just outside the room of an immersive experience. Tho probably great if you were near the front.

I think the staging was an issue - we were by Water Aid and couldn’t really see any of the multimedia stuff. I remember Damon being quite moody too. Was cool to see Lou Reed but wish I had gone to see the Flaming Lips instead…

That set has a special place in my heart. It's still one of my favourite headline sets

I was round at The Flaming Lips on The Other Stage at the time, having what can only be described as a religious experience!! I thought Gorillaz was a poor Pyramid headline choice tbh, but wouldn’t have missed the ‘Lips for anything

Too much faffing about, too long between songs and getting guests on. It just didn’t flow very well and was a bit boring. I enjoyed the tunes when they got going, but overall, sadly, a bit rubbish.

My first glasto was neil young, Bruce springsteen and blur hell of a way to start. Whoever played after we're going to struggle. I loved Bruce but remember many didn't that year

Loved the whole gig, many would disagree but one of my favourite headline gigs I’ve seen on the pyramid

I had a great time but everyone around me was just moaning they weren't playing Clint Eastwood, Dare & 19-2000 over and over. Saw them later that year at the O2 though and it was a whole other level. One of my all time favourite gigs.

Saw them live a couple of years ago. 2010 was one of the years I didn’t attend Glasto but expectations were quite low because of the reputation of this set. They were absolutely superb, just such a unique act. Might not have reached their potential by this point yet though.

It blew me away - my first Glasto too.
