Got all the downed trees removed from my yard that were brought down by the hurricane Just my yard alone 😳

Some other nice news: While it’s still early on with going through items affected by the storm, it appears the LGR big box PC game collection is fully intact! That was on the opposite side of the house to where the trees fell in.

And thankfully the main collection room did NOT FULLY cave in from above, which was quite a concern. It got rather rain-soaked through the ceiling and mold is rapidly taking over, but steps will be taken to remedy soon as I can. Working with insurance and restoration companies.

This unfortunately means a big chunk of vintage hardware is compromised, plus the structure itself is iffy. Waiting on professionals to come through and inspect. Still just super thankful to be safe, staying with family for the time being, & in communication with helpful folks.

Update: my entire retro game collection survived! Modern games and systems, eh not so much… But all the boxed PC stuff is good, even the small box stuff from the 2000s that was in the waterlogged collection room. Mold was beginning to set in but I got it out and cleaned in time.

another positive update: the arcade machines seem pretty okay all things considered! a bit battered, dirty, and moist but still intact. moved them outside to clean and let them dry out, I think the outcome will be good for them overall.

I recorded about 5hrs of unboxing/assessing/cleaning the pieces of my vintage collection that got rained-soaked and moldy during the hurricane not sure how to post them yet... as one giant video, lots of individual videos, mid-size videos with similar items grouped together, eh?

Just received word that after nearly two months I now have cleaning running water again! Sooner than anticipated actually 🥳 Sure hope it stays clean, this is a huge step towards returning to normalcy

Govt debris removal services are taking care of all the roadside stuff like this Though I kept some nice logs for future woodworking projects and firewood!
