I watch the ducks land every day. They normally do it so easily. Except a while back when the brook had frozen over. The poor thing either slid or just lost control and went ass over tea kettle and hit the bank. The quacking was so loud! Poor thing. Stomped up on land, with no dignity left at all.

Not just the gear. This entire video fascinates me. First, it comes in like a bullet, all sleek and linear, then the wings unfurl and the feet seem to act to balance flight, they are no longer tucked but at each side but adjusting the trim, then comes the landing, and like you said, landing gear down on time, and watch how it tilts its wings to various pitches at certain point in the landing when it lands, it throttles back, and smoothly settles in the water, and it refurls those amazing, facile wings.

It’s like he’s a natural at flying.

I’m not a pilot, but that looked like a beautiful landing. 😂

And just as his gear hits the water the thrust reversers deploy.
