"Mesh BVH is a THREE.js addon that builds a Bounding Volume Hierarchy from a mesh's triangles. A BVH is a tree where each node holds a box containing some triangles; child nodes split those triangles into smaller boxes. Queries walk the tree and skip entire branches that can't possibly contain the answer, turning "check all 5,000 triangles" into "check ~log₂(5000) ≈ 12 boxes."

Sparse allocation/rendering of SDF bricks is now working! The pipeline is fully GPU-driven - a series of compute shaders that manages brick allocation/baking in a 3D texture atlas, followed by draw-indirect for rendering. Still a lot more work to do, including automatic LOD.

With the recent three-mesh-bvh changes you can finally make a full scene-wide BVH to accelerate physics, raycasting, etc. And at some point Pathtracing 😁 Its just a prototype so far but it "just works" with objects and batched instances in a single structure. #threejs #gamedev
