Andy Biggs is "not taking tough questions from reporters," Gov. Katie Hobbs says while defending her decision not to debate him. She critiques his record — as does her Democratic lieutenant governor pick, former Republican mayor John Giles. "That is not a good format for accomplishing the dissemination of useful information," Giles said. "It's about soundbites. It's about avoiding questions." John Giles is a former mayor of Mesa who finally left the MAGA GOP after trying to turn it around from Trumpism. Giles is still a conservative but as mayor he was a Trump critic, endorsed Democrats, including VP Kamala Harris and has proven to be an LGBTQ advocate.
