DeSantis seems like the only sensible politician with common sense
Ugh. He's either doing this for optics - for the "we don't like AI" crowd, or he doesn't really know much about AI. Either way is not good.
He is conflating two different things and counting on the audience not to notice. AI-generated slop is real and worth criticizing. But using the worst outputs of a technology to argue against the entire category is like judging the internet by spam email. The question worth asking is not whether bad AI content exists, it obviously does, but whether the people using AI well are gaining an advantage that everyone else will eventually need to close. That answer has not changed regardless of how the politics around it shift.
Disagree with him on this. AI can replace 90% of government, college and hospital admins.
Garbage in garbage out still applies. The difference is scale and gullibility. Critical thinking is key. Drift and hallucination are real. It is a TOOL. It is NOT an u questionable solution.

We are a social species, everything possible should be done via legislation to protect, preserve and promote human social interaction, the only sane thing to do. AI should be reserved for more effective phones, that actively promote direct human social interactions.

This is like listening to your relative that didn’t save a dime their entire life talk about finances. DeSantis should stick to whatever else it is he knows nothing about.
This is wrong, yes there is slop but there are tons of examples of why ai is better for us. Why would anyone want to work some bullshit job when we could have robots do it for us. Last I checked all of us only go to work for a paycheck. Ai would allow us to focus on other areas where we need to get better. We weren’t meant to be slaves I mean employees.
This isn’t a surprising take fron @GovRonDeSantis. He’s been overtly anti-AI for some time now. I suspect he knows little but what he’s been told, and that those doing the telling have their own agenda.
I have an AI project, and I agree 100%. The practical use for AI is local as a glorified encyclopedia. Should not be used for generation or automation, as it is degenerative.
He seems to be trying to have it both ways. On the one hand, AI is no good (slop) yet on the other hand, despite being no good, it's going to take everybody's jobs? 🤔
