Labour TD Alan Kelly has accused Minister Helen McEntee of either "incompetence or a mistake" in her handling of a protected disclosure, adding that it is something that will "haunt" her and the Government in which she served. ✍️ Julie Juliette Gash Deputy Doherty said that safety concerns about Garda gun holsters were made known as far back as 2020 when Helen McEntee was Justice Minister. He accused her of repeatedly dodging questions on the issue of the holsters, which he said led to the death of a Garda. 🔴 IRISH GESTAPO INCOMING SINCE 2020 in particular, we have witnessed a massive overreach on the part of many members of An Garda Siochana in exercising their "powers" under legislation like the Criminal Justice (Public Order) Act 1994. We have seen them make demands that are outwith their legislative authority, accosting and arresting Irish citizens simply for exercising their rights of assembly and expression, and assaulting innocent Irish citizens in the name of "public order". Their tyrannical and often thuggish behaviour has demonstrated that there are a large number of Garda members that cannot be trusted. Instead of holding these Garda members accountable for their actions and reigning them in to respect the fundamental rights of the Irish people, the Garda Ombudsman's office has shown itself to be unfit for purpose, and the State has decided to give them even more legislative authority in the Garda Síochána (Powers) Bill 2026; An outrageously intrusive and dystopian piece of legislation, as can be seen in this slide show of some of its content. And let us also not forget that in January of 2024, the State passed the Policing, Security and Community Safety Act 2024, under which "the Garda Commissioner may, AT THE REQUEST OF THE CHIEF CONSTABLE: (a) appoint a member of the Police Service of Northern Ireland as a member of An Garda Síochána of a rank not above that of superintendent for a period not exceeding 3 years, or (b) subject to the approval of the Board, appoint such a member of the Police Service of Northern Ireland as a member of An Garda Síochána of a rank of Assistant Garda Commissioner or chief superintendent for such period. Why would the Chief Constable of the PSNI request that members of his police force serve as high ranking members of An Garda Síochána? Why is the State trying to create a Gestapo style police force in Ireland? IT IS TIME TO STAND UP! Contact all so-called "public representatives" NOW and demand that they stand against this draconian Bill. DO NOT make it easy for them. Silence is no longer an option. 🇮🇪 👇👇👇
