3rd grade teacher gets arrested for drinking on the job. On the first day of class, school officials noticed Coates acting strangely. When confronted by Superintendent Doug Ogle and the School principal, the details became increasingly shocking: After claiming her slurred speech was due to "anxiety meds," Coates blew a .24 on a breathalyzer—3x the legal limit for driving. The superintendent found a blue cup in her classroom filled with red wine. While she initially called it "juice," she eventually admitted to drinking on her way to work that morning. School officials tried to help her secure a safe ride home, but her refusal to cooperate her tampering with the blue cup that was found led to her being arrested for Public Intoxication on school grounds. If the school arrest wasn't enough, the story took a bizarre turn during her sentencing Coates arrived at the Payne County Courthouse to plead guilty to the original charge. However, the Judge noticed she was unsteady and slurred her words. After entering her plea and being handed a deferred sentence (probation), the Judge ordered an immediate breath test. "Drunk as a Skunk": The test confirmed she was intoxicated while standing before the Judge. Her probation was effectively violated the moment it began. She was arrested in the courtroom and taken straight back to the same jail she had visited months prior. She is no longer employed by the Perkins-Tryon school district and, given the high-profile nature of the two arrests, her teaching license and career were effectively terminated. As part of her ongoing legal battle, she was required to undergo substance abuse evaluations and outpatient after-care.

🚨 “Lenient” sentence: Former mayor sentenced to just 90 days in jail after raping her son’s 16-year-old friend at a party. Misty Roberts, the former mayor of DeRidder, Louisiana, was sentenced to 90 days in jail after being convicted of carnal knowledge of a juvenile and indecent behavior with a juvenile. The crimes happened at a July 2024 party at her home where Roberts provided alcohol to teens, including her own son and his friends. She had raped one of the 16-year-old boys upstairs in the game room. Witnesses, including her son and nephew, saw them through the blinds. The victim was drunk and later realized what had happened. Roberts told the kids to lie or be quiet about it. A DoorDash delivery of Plan B was made to her address days later. Her ex-husband testified she admitted raping the boy and getting caught. Judge Kent Savoie gave her five years on each charge to run concurrently but suspended the prison time. Instead she got 90 days in jail, a $5,000 fine, and five years of probation. The judge said he did not believe Roberts took full responsibility — she minimized her actions and to some extent blamed the victim. Prosecutors had asked for the maximum sentence and called the outcome lenient. The victim’s family described her as a predator and said the teen has suffered panic attacks, missed school, and faced ridicule. Another elected official who preyed on a teenager gets a slap on the wrist. When will adults in positions of power who rape minors face real prison time instead of 90 days in jail?

Her name was Shakiya Pridgen. She was 23, 9 months pregnant, asleep in bed with her 3-year-old and 1-year-old when the father of her unborn son walked up to her window and fired ELEVEN sh0ts through it. He had already been indicted for m*rder once. He served just 11 MONTHS. Shakiya had her baby shower on Sunday, she was due in two weeks. She had already picked out his name. Kyren. At 5:15 in the morning in Decatur, Georgia, police say a man walked up to the bedroom window he KNEW she slept under, and opened fire. Her mother lived in the same apartment complex. She heard the gunfire. She ran. She found her daughter bleeding in that bed and did CPR on her own child on the floor while she waited for the ambulance. She says she heard her daughter's last breath. Shakiya passed away at the hospital. Kyren never got to take a first one. Her two babies were in that bed. Neither one was hit. The man charged with k*lling them is Devin Anthony, a 26-year-old Black male. He is her ex-boyfriend. He is Kyren's father. According to the arrest affidavit, they had recently broken up... and he was angry that she had chosen a name for the baby he didn't agree with. He is charged with malice m*rder, and aggravated assault. It getes worse. In September 2021, Devin Anthony was indicted in Fulton County for the M*RDER of a man named Ronald Barner. In November 2024, prosecutors cut him a deal. M*rder was reduced to voluntary manslaughter under Georgia's First Offender Act. His sentence for a man's life? ELEVEN MONTHS... yes you read that right. He walked out on probation. FOUR MONTHS LATER, he m*rdered his own child and girlfriend. Two babies woke up next to their mother's body. A little boy named Kyren never opened his eyes. WE. DO. NOT. HAVE. TO. LIVE. LIKE. THIS.

Cape Coral TikTok mom influencer Marlena Velez keeps finding herself back in handcuffs over the same Target thefts that made her viral. Velez built a following of more than 500,000 on TikTok posting lifestyle content. Her videos centered on “get ready with me” routines, daily mom life with her two kids, fashion, home clips, and soft-life SAHM (Stay at Home Mom) content. In late 2024 she was arrested twice at the same Cape Coral Target within about 10 days. Investigators said she scanned fake barcodes at the self-checkout to ring up household goods and clothing at much lower prices. The first incident involved roughly $500 in items. She posted a TikTok the same day showing herself getting ready in the exact outfit and glasses later seen on store security video, then selecting the merchandise and loading it into her car. An anonymous tip from a follower plus her own posts led police straight to her. Ten days later she was caught doing the same thing at the same store with about $225 more in merchandise. Officers recognized her immediately. In March 2025 she pleaded no contest to two counts of petty theft and received 12 months of probation. That did not end it. On September 29, 2025, an officer spotted her driving and tried to pull her over because of an active warrant tied to probation issues. She fled. On October 12 officers located the same vehicle, saw her in the passenger seat, and found her moments later lying on the floorboard of the back seat trying to hide. She was charged with probation violations and fleeing and eluding. In June 2026 she was arrested yet again after authorities said she repeatedly failed to report to her probation officer, left her approved residence, and stopped logging her daily activities as required. What started as two petty theft cases at one Target has turned into a string of arrests because she kept violating the terms of her probation. I don’t think she can be saved.
