It appears that in its final days, the Islamic Republic sees its greatest danger not only in a possible military defeat in the war, but in the renewed uprising of the Iranian people. Videos circulating online show convoys of the proxy group Hashd al-Shaabi entering Iran with heavy military equipment intended for street confrontation, openly carrying Iraqi flags. For many Iranians, these scenes recall the use of these forces during the January 8 and 9 uprising against Iranian freedom-seekers, when they were used to violently suppress protests and massacre people in the streets. Iran today is effectively occupied by the Islamic Republic and its network of proxy terrorist groups.
