Unlike Syria's transition, the IRGC operates as an entrenched military oligarchy that has systematically exploited every diplomatic agreement it has ever signed. Here's the hard truth about engagement with Tehran: prior pacts like the JCPOA and IAEA monitoring commitments were not bad faith accidents — they were strategic tools. The IRGC uses diplomatic windows to expand its capabilities. Every agreement becomes temporary cover until Tehran rearms. Nuclear negotiations don't constrain the regime — they fund it. Sanctions relief flows straight into IRGC coffers, financing Shahed drone programs, ballistic missile development, and proxy militias from Lebanon to Iraq to Yemen. This isn't theoretical. The pattern is 47 years of documented behavior. The IRGC cannot negotiate because its survival depends on perpetual confrontation. Any deal you cut with Tehran is instantly repurposed for escalation. Meanwhile, Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi is building something real. Israel — the first country in the world to officially recognize him as Iran's legitimate opposition leader — has signed an agreement with him to prepare the "Cyrus Accords." Pahlavi has pledged Israel recognition, an end to Iran's nuclear weapons program, and expansion of the Abraham Accords model to bring a free Iran, Israel, and the Arab world together in a new regional framework. This is what the post-IRGC future looks like: stability through democratic legitimacy, not military oligarchy.
