Off the back of the news that the DP World Tour PGA TOUR and Asian Tour have signed a multi-year partnership, ex-long time European Tour and LIV Golf player Lee Westwood is concerned for the future of the Euro tour. The DP World Tour’s partnership with the PGA Tour means the top 10 players on the ‘Race to Dubai’ automatically receive tour cards to play in America, meaning the DPWT potentially loses their best players to the US tour each season. All 3 Majesticks GC co-captains are in danger of getting relegated next week as the LIV Golf League start to take relegation seriously. ALL players finishing 49th and below are demoted, which currently includes Ian Poulter in 52nd, Henrik Stenson in 49th and Lee Westwood just outside at 48th. This was an intriguing segment on the Post Round Show that made LIV’s intentions clear, if you don’t perform, you are gone, no matter how much of a star name you are. And what comes next for the franchises who lose players is exactly what will add to the intrigue and context of the team event that makes sports compelling. Some really tough decisions will need to be made. This clip is well worth a watch.

Gave a really cool answer about watching Luke's success and how nice it was to play well in front of him. "He's on an amazing trajectory: Top 10 in the world, playing great golf, plays golf courses that are exceptional. So he doesn't come and watch me that often. "I kind of had to put a round in today and just show him that Dad's not done yet. It's great. I love having the family come out and watch, and it inspires me to keep playing well."

The LIV Golf broadcast has just pushed the storyline again about all players, regardless of star power, being open to relegation via the Drop Zone. If applied properly, this has the potential to be the most brutal relegation process in all of sport. The difference between being on the LIV Golf League or dropping down to The International Series on the Asian Tour could be more than a 90% pay cut to their season long earnings. From playing in $25 million purses to $2 million. If everyone is open to relegation regardless of their fame, whether they’ve won a major or many majors, or even whether they won on the league the previous season, then it will add the much needed jeopardy that many, including myself, have accused the league of significantly lacking. It will also be the only major tour in the world of golf that doesn’t have categories. You’re either in or you’re out for the entire year and the only thing affecting that is your performances on the golf course. The players currently in the Drop Zone include Ian Poulter, Anthony Kim, Mito Pereira, Andy Ogletree and new 2025 signings Yubin Jang and Frederik Kjettrup. But Lee Westwood and Henrik Stenson are all within reach just above too. So there could be a potential storyline at the final event of the season where the Majesticks co-captains could be facing off directly against each other to secure their individual contracts for the following year.
