Great work on this breakdown of these Nazi imagery. This whole thing is a ticking time bomb when it comes to misinformation and sensational media. It’s only a matter of time before someone runs a headline trying to connect Mexican cartels to white supremacy—without actually understanding the full picture. But wait until they discover “Los Rusos” in Mexicali. Give it a few headlines, and someone will be out there saying they’re backed by Putin and operating as Kremlin proxies. The media will jump at the chance to stir panic and push geopolitical narratives without fact-checking or understanding the hyper-local dynamics of cartel factions.
@HEARST_BB @sonorainformat Very well said. On one hand, CDS had a group called los Talibanes; they may just like branding associated w/ armed groups which opposed the US government. On the other, I could believe that a güero cartel leader like IAG is egotistical enough to genuinely identify with Nazism.
