It is a mayoral sales pitch in search of a country. Working class people do not need another Uniparty rebrand with a flat cap filter. They need lower bills, safer streets, controlled borders, cheaper energy and wages that beat the month. One test: what changes on immigration, Net Zero, tax and public spending?

Makes absolutely no difference to the working class majority which one is Labour leader because they both want exactly the same thing — more outdated capitalism where business profits unavoidably come before people’s needs. Real change requires real socialism.

His body language makes him look out of his depth talking about taking public control of energy, water and everything else.I’d probably agree with the idea if I thought he was serious, but I don’t. Running Manchester buses is one thing — national energy and water is on a completely different scale. Local wins don’t mean it’ll work nationally.Just feels like positioning to me
