Every Easter, Vrontados hosts a unique and spectacular tradition called "Rouketopolemos" (Greek: Ρουκετοπόλεμος), which translates to "rocket war". Two rival church communities, Agios Markos and Panagia Erithiani, engage in a mock battle by firing thousands of homemade rockets at each other's bell towers during the night of Holy Saturday. Tonight at midnight mass there will be fireworks in nearly ever Greek Orthodox Church.

🚨 NOW: A LARGE emergency response is underway following a structure fire at one of the OLDEST churches in Washington, DC, St. Dominic Catholic Church It’s unfortunate that these fires are seemingly becoming more common in these historic churches, as one of the oldest churches in NYC burned down just a couple weeks ago.
