NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte urged to increase support for Ukraine for the sake of strengthening its position. "Ukraine is in urgent need of our help. Putin will use winter as a weapon. He will try to destroy Ukraine’s power system," Rutte said. He emphasized that on the issue of possible negotiations with Russia, Kyiv should be in a position of strength to be able to decide for itself when and how to start diplomatic efforts to end the war. He noted that Ukraine needs constant defense support from NATO and its partners for this very purpose.

And we are now overly dependent on one ally with about 350 million people, making sure that we can defend ourselves against Russia. That's not sustainable long term. And that one ally cannot keep explaining this to its own public.
