Trump named a special envoy to engage directly with Greenland, bypassing Denmark. Danish officials demanded involvement once it became clear any US acquisition would pay Greenlanders alone. Denmark is the only one actually invading. Danish leaders ordered a major military deployment to Greenland, including a full platoon & most of their navy. The justification was fear of a US invasion even though US forces are already stationed there under treaty obligations to defend the island. Instead of coordination, Denmark chose escalation. The deployment amounts to a unilateral occupation of territory already covered by American defense guarantees.
